    211 design questions

the 211 weighs about 100lb less than a 226, and about 800lb more than a210. It's a smaller both than both of them, yet boasts more storage (empty space)

    so my question is why

    1. if it's a different manufacturing process, that what does the 211 have that weighs more, fiberglass, foam, carpet snaps?

    2. what do you all think was the rational
    - a natural effect of a different manufacturing process
    - better unloaded wake
    - better rough water handling
    - more durable,
    - weigh down the front of the boat to simulate a better ski wake

I was just thinking you guru's might shed some lite?

    RE: 211 design questions

The 211 has all of the seat bases made in the same mold for the deck so it is all one unit. All other correct craft's have independent seat bases built. The process used in the 211 is similar to what other boat companies use. The extra weight comes from the added fiberglass. Part of the reason for using this method is to reduce the cost of the boat. Building individual seat bases for every boat is very labor intensive.

Hope that helps a little bit.

would the best way to find out, would go to a truck station and subtract the known weight of the trailer ?

I don't think their weights are all that accurate anyway. Between any two model lines ie 210 Sport to 210 Air they're the same weight yet they have different options.
The tower/flight clips/amps/tanks/pumps all have to add weight to the boat yet they are spec'd out as the same weight.

I was wondering if any of the added weight was "designed" into the boat to make it a better rough water platform, or maybe they added more to the bow , to minimize bow rise of vdrives. I thought there would be more technical reasons other than cost reduction.

wakejunky, I think they are based off of the Super Sport weight. I know that our '04 SANTE has a Super Sport spec sheet beneath the throttle. "2004 Nautique Super Sport", then lists specifications.
