    99 SAN no hour meter

i am about to buy a 99 SAN. boat has no hour meter, previous owner says it never had one. is this possible??
i'm not worried about the actual hours on the boat just wondering if it was possible to order a boat without one.

Probably not possible, it is in the tach, listed as "standard equipment" in the 99' brochure.

Maybe he just never realized it is there, window in the top of the Tachometer.

Anything is possible. Im sure if someone ordered it directly from CC in 99 and said they did not want an hour meter, they would leave it out. It just seems odd. More than likely it was removed or replaced with a clock or something. Are you buying it from the original owner? Do you have a picture of the dash? You could probably contact CC with the hull ID and they may be able to pull up the build sheet and tell you.

Nick, I am betting that is not the original tach, I bought a 99' new and the hour meter was definitely in the tach.

Go to CCFan and check out the 99' brochure, page 4 shows the dash, page 26 has the "Equipment", under Operating Systems "Bottom Swing Tach/Hour Meter", Standard on SAN.

Also can't make out in the pic, but Tach looks to have no "Nautiques" on it??

Cannot pull hours from a GT-40, is that the motor or does it have the Apex??

Also: Trim ring or Bezel on that Tach looks white, all other gauges are black??

Look closely at the dash pic, logo is between hr meter and center of gauge...or at least it appears to be??

If GT-40 you are SOL on determining the actual hours.

Have you seen the boat? Visual ispection should give you a ball park.

              Good Luck

at the bottom of the gauge??

i have seen the boat. fired right up and ran strong...good compression too, all in the 160's. boat also has an fct2 tower...maybe a late 99 / early 2000 frankenstein kind of boat??

The 99' FCT1 was a PITA to fold down, one upside was the bimini could stay on when folding though. If it had a FCT1 originally the mounting feet are different so you might see the gel patches or mounting holes from below?

Look above from the center of the gauge, right at the shadow line from the steering wheel, "Nautiques" then above that a window for the hour meter.

That's definitely not an OEM tach, as Quinner said the OEM ones were bottom swing with the hourmeter on top. My guess is that he or previous owner replaced to hide the number of hours. Of course the tach could have broke and been replaced with that but no way it left the factory like that.

Still if the rest of the boat checks out in good condition I would go off of that rather than the hourmeter anyways.

definitely does not look like the factory tach...but why not, is the question...impossible to say.

it seems solid from my inspection, compression was good, dealer certified that "boat and engine is in good operational condition"...guess i'll just put a new hour meter in it...

also, no gel patches or cracking around the tower mounts...seems to be from the factory fct2...

Congrats! What Color(s)? Any Pics u can share?

FCT2 looks and functions so much better, whether it was replaced, factory installed or added later, bonus regardless.
