Adding a back up cam to the LINC system?

    Grettings Nautiquer's,

Hope the off season isn't driving everyone crazy. I was wondering if any had added a back up camera to the LINC system?

I do like the new PTM Mirrors, but I have the FTC3 tower so not only the mirror but also the arm to attach to the tower, as I'm not comfortable with attaching the mirror to the windshield.
http://www.nautiqueparts.com/ptmproa...micmirror.aspx Lookat it $600 I would rather put into my tower system going to add a set of Rev 8's this spring with a SYN4 for power.

I was thinking that I could add a back up camera (http://www.amazon.com/XO-Vision-HTC3.../ref=pd_cp_e_2)
Maybe not this exact one, but something that I could flush mount and then connect into the LINC system video input.

This would be install in a 2010 210 with the LINC system.

    Any thoughts?

    Mike

Mike, I am on a similar mission! I am currently working on adding a gopro to the 2012 linc system to act as a "backup camera" as well as a video recorder for boarding a surfing. I have test tryed it using the video jack in the dash and it looks like it will work great. I am now just trying to figure out wiring the power and video to the back of the boat. The hardest part of this project I am having is coming up with a way of getting the power and video input into the gopro case in a water "resistant manner". Does yours currently have a video imput on the dash for the 2010 linc system???

        TX,

Thanks I have a go pro HD hero, not the newest one, so it says that will be compatible with the wireless system. Guess I will just have to wait and see (March TBA)

From my knowledge there is not way to get cables to a go pro and still keep it "waterproof" The wireless system is only going to allow you to remotely turn the camera on and off and adjust camera settings. (for the old camera). HD2 will video stream but still no way to get power. Your best option for power is the battery bac pac and an DC-AC inverter to charge said batteries. Look it up on their site. I have the battery pac and love it. Allows charging of spare batteries of attach to camera for double life.

What I am in the progress of doing is taking a GoPro 3D case and drilling holes in the centre divider so that I can plug the cables into the camera. I am then planning on drilling out and reinforcing a hole on the unused side of the 3D case door to get the cables out of the case. Then to seal it all up and make the case water "resistant" I will seal off the hole with epoxy. The extra room in the case will also give me the opportunity to add silica packs to stop fogging if humidity becomes a problem. This not only will give live video on the linc screen, but also be able to record when desired!
