I wish I would get a new 216 direct drive that had a trunk, snap out carpet, normal guages, etc. I like the direct drive layout and the room for the family. Anyone know if or when CC might bring something like this back to market? Any ideas on any other brands/setups like the Malibu TXI?

Too bad for me I guess... How/where do you store the curved barefoot boom, bumpers, and all the other crap you end up putting on a boat? If there isn't much storage for other items (coolers, bumpers, anchor, ropes, jackets, boat bags etc, I guess the 200 was truly built for the 5% who are truly die hard skiers?????

ffmedic,
Have you looked at the 200? I bought an OB for my family boat and while there is not a great spot for a large cooler (space behind the driver is taken by kbeeboards) overall storage is excellent. Bumpers, anchors, jackets, skis, etc. all have their place and are easy to access. I think it makes a great family boat and have commented about the good storage space. It is much better than the 21' Century CTS it replaced.

Having had 2 200's now an open bow and a closed bow, both with 6 liters. I too have become a real beliver in the 200 over the 196. Keep in mind personally I prefere my 11 Closed bow over the 10 open bow. I am one that for my water ski outings more than three in the boat is unconfortable, even in the queen mary more in a boat is two much again for me. The ski lockers are a far better situation over the trunked 196. The port side locker in my boat is dedicateded to me and my ski gear, The other side to guests. Under the deck is cavernes and all the safety gear, extra bouy's, balast weight and at this point who know's what else is up under their with room to streach out and take a nap. The six liter is a match made in heaven for the boat, modern engine technology with majior league power that can be easily taylored for what I prefer in a three event pull.
Besides my 200 has a great hood orniment, this boat now has water ski history as it towed Clemintine Lucine to a world trick record the first female to exceede 10,000 points.

I keep the curved barefoot boom and the extended Pylon for my son's wakeboard habit in one of the side lockers or under the passenger seat. They fit well in either place. Anchor goes under the bow middle seat cushion, bumpers and ropes in one of the side lockers, life jackets behind the passenger seat, cooler behind the drivers seat, and beer in my hand.
We normally we ski without the rear seat in place so we are usually to lazy to put the ski's away between sets so they just get piled on the floor.
When I bought the boat last year, storage was one of my biggest concern coming from a BU Sunsetter Lxi that had a huge trunk. I can say I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of storage room in the 200OB.
