Going with Seadek - Teak or Non Teak - help me decide.

Boat is a '06 220. Black and Vapor Blue. Interior is white w/ blue piping. I've attached pictures. Was considering redoing the entire thing with the Seadek Faux Teak, but it's too rich for my blood and the carpet is just fine.

So I'm having a tough time deciding on what I should go with.

Option 1: Replace the swim deck and stern steps with Sea Dek One color. Not sure what color. Black maybe? It seems Gray is a popular choice. This is also the most inexpensive option.

Option 2: Replace the swim deck and stern steps with Sea Dek Faux Teak.

Option 3: Replace the swim deck, stern steps, and all rubber pieces on interior of boat with Sea Dek One Color.

Option 4: Replace the swim deck, stern steps, and all rubber pieces on interior of boat with Sea Dek Faux Teak.

It basically comes down to - how will teak look with my boat? I've posted links to pictures from SeaDek's website of a 200 that has gray carpet, and faux teak on the swim deck and ski lockers. It works for this boat. Not sure if it will work for mine though. Will a Faux teak deck look tacky? Will it look classier without the '06 decals on the side? Really considering pulling them off, but am afraid once I do, the imprint/shadow of the decal will be left there and no amount of buffing will remove it.

    Thoughts, opinions?

    Thanks!

teak always looks sharp as long as you oil it and keep it treated, if you go with teak, maybe do your floor compartment cover also to tie it all together. If rubber, go gray. The black will streak. Thats why CC used gray after 2006. A band saw and router should make an easy job of that floor cover!

Scott, I believe he is talking about the fake teak that sea deck makes not going with true teak. I would go with the grey on your boat Jonathon. I have a blue and yellow boat and if the teak would look good with it, would do it in a heartbeat, but I just don't think it would look to good.

        Jonathan,

We ordered a 2012 Masters Blue/Silver metallic stripe/Silver Cloud hull 230 Team and deliberated many many hours on whether to go with the "faux teak" surfaces or the titanium grey surfaces...with my colors, and I think yours as well, I have to agree with highrock above and would suggest going with the grey for your boat.

Dont get me wrong, I love teak and even the "faux teak" they have come up with, but with your color scheme, I dont think the teak look fits. Good luck with your decision, in the end, as long as you and your family love it, you've made the correct decision no matter which you choose.

yup. You a correct highrock. I somehow ignored the "faux" . I would have to see what that looks like, but would probably go with seadek gray over faux wood.

Huge fan of the Sea Dek faux teak here. Our 2012 210 has the whole floor done with it instead of carpet as well as the factory non skid areas.

That said, I agree with the others that grey would better suit your color scheme. I originally planned to go with blue in our new boat on the main/top stripes but once I decided on the faux teak floor switched back to fury red. Teak look doesn't work with every gel color IMO.

Good luck with the project. It will be a huge improvement over the SANO.

I'd go with gray for your colors as well, as for your decal removal it will come off without leaving a mark, you may need to wetsand / buff a little bit depending how much sun your gelcoat has seen, but you can make it dissapear for sure, cant see any of the old decals on my '02 there all off now as i'm putting a camo kit on it

Photoshopped the photo for you to see how the boat would look without the decal. Good luck!

I don't like the boat without the decal but weren't you considering using the Chromemax? If so, that would look sharp. As for the Sea Dek, I don't really care for faux teak so I vote for gray.

Personally, I like the decal. That one in particular is not my fav, but I like it better than without. +1 for Grey, and I would do all the pieces to tie it together, otherwise swim deck only.

Thanks for all the replies guys!! JRock, Thanks for the photoshop!! Much better than the one I did.

I was going to go with the Chromax Decals, but they're roughly $700 for both sides. I'm really liking it w/o the decal though. Looks a lot classier. The boat hasn't seen much sun at all. It is kept in a fully enclosed boat house year round, and only sees the sun when used. Obviously not enough because the boat only has 130 hours on it. It's an '06. Lol.

I also think I'll go with Gray. Do you think I should change out the interior pieces if I switch up the swim deck and stern steps or will it clash if I don't.

If it were my boat I'd put the crest decals on it! They look so sick, pretty sure there on sale too!

Flaudia - I just did my platform and I really like it. I went back and forth about Brown or Gray faux teak. After going to the boat show to look at what the new Nautiques had on them I decided on the Brown. Most of the new boats had the Brown Teak SeaDek and it looked good on every color hull I saw - only one had the Gray, it was on a silver metal flake Sport 200. I don't think you can go wrong with either color. I'm just looking forward to not burning the soles of my feet on the black pad when I step onto the platform after it's been in the sun for a few hours.

Gray with black trim Faux teak Sea Deck. I have that on my 2009 230. It is SO much better than the crappy sano pad, and I am surprised CC even used it to begin with. The Sea Deck product is very nice to walk on, and looks excellent too. If you do the entire interior, you can get a custom graphic for not much more than having it without one....
