    Pro X Wedge Sac Questions

I'm looking to install the Pro X Wedge Sacs on top of the stock team wedge tanks ('03 SANTE). I'm really not interested in removing the hard tanks, just adding the wedge sacs over the existing tanks will be plenty for us. 50+% of the time I'm pulling my 11 y/o daughter and her friends with little ballast and my 4 y/o son will also start riding this season (pumped!). So about the wedge sacs...a couple of questions...

    1) I've found two versions available. Dimensions are identical but they look different in the pic. Not sure if one is for the '07+ models, or if the blue one is new and improved. The seams at the shorter end are different so maybe just a design rev? Not sure which one to go with or if it even matters...

    http://www.bartswatersports.com/cata..._Sac/index.asp

    2) I've searched a bunch of ballast install threads on here but haven't found one specific to these wedge sacs over stock ballast (at least not with detailed info or pics). Seems pretty easy but I'm looking to see what hardware is required, pics, etc.

    Any feedback/input is appreciated...thanks!

I have the grey sacs pictured in your first link. You should be able to follow any install for piggy-backing on top of the factory tanks and it be the same. Here is a link to the install I did a few years ago. It should answer any questions you might have. http://www.planetnautique.com/vb3/sh...hlight=ballast

Wedge sacs were designed for pre 06 boats going back to 03 if I'm not mistaken. Basically it fills up mostly on the floor behind the seat and narrows to fill the locker towards the stern. It was a good design, but they could have added more space for sure and put the fill/drain caps slightly differently, but I've had them for years and thy aren't too bad. You can plumb them in with some hose and t plug for the overflow, but it's honestly more of a pain than using tsunami pumps more often than not. Just go to www.buywake.com or your local dealer if applicable.

          Guys, thanks for the info.

Jason, that thread rocks! Exactly what I was looking for, not sure how I missed it in my search. That diagram is especially useful. I can get the parts on order without having to pull my boat out of winter storage to figure out what I need. Thanks, much appreciated.

For the money it will cost less to just toss those hard tanks and throw in some 750s and have an easier to deal with system with way less parts!! the wedge tanks/sac combination is more of a pita than anything, since the overflow is at the top of the tank and the drain for the bag is at the bottom its too much effort to even bother setting it up automatic, cause in reality its far from "automatic" when you need to plug an empty port, blow out a connecting hose etc. If your set on keeping the hard tanks i'd have to agree with gride just fill them manually with the tsunamis, you'll be filling/ draining quicker than the other method posted

It'll suck filling and emptying with the aerator pumps as opposed to impeller style. If I had the $ and time I would switch to some impeller(what new boats use) and save the old ones for bilge pumps.

vanislwake & gride are correct in the fact that this is not truely an "auto" system, but it gets the job done. You will have to hassel with plugs and getting the water out of the overflow so everything drains correctly. If you can overlook that it is quite a good system for adding wieght though. As far as filling/emptying with the aerator pumps, do you ride right off the boat ramp/house, or do you have to travel a bit to get to decent riding waters? I have to travel a few minutes, so I open the valves while running and let the sacs fill while underway. It really isn't that big of a deal.

I would like to eventually remove the hard tanks and install a pair of 750's, but that will only happen when one of my wedge sacs has to be replaced. They work fine for now and have been for many years. No need to fix what ain't broke you know!

I am interested in replacing the hard tanks completely to give myself more room at times in the storage compartments. What would the setup look like? Could I set it up so that it was still automatic? Any maintenance issues?

                  Thanks

On swapping out hard tanks for sacs, I think you might want more permanent fittings than the quick connect fittings. The W733 is a straight 1" barbed (hose) end to sac thread fitting, but I have not found a similar fitting with a 90 degree sweep or a 1 1/8" barbed to sac thread (full flow curved), except for bronze fittings. I mention this because I have seen the quick connects drip water. You give up the quick connect convenience but I think you gain a tighter connection. Anyone have a suggestion on fittings?

I've never had any issues with quick connects leaking. Maybe you needed new orings?

G-man, your ride and wake are so dialed in. If I got near that thing with a wrench I would surely screw it up...then I would be buying you dinner and paying for repairs.
