200 SN EX343 with or without Catanium

I am looking at a new 2011 200 Ski that has the 343 without the Cat. Also considering ordering a new 2012 that would obviously have the Catanium. Any opinions on with or without? Is the 409 worth the extra. Used 99% in the slalom course on a 1925 foot private lake. A couple times a year I will barefoot behind it. Normally foot at 38mph.

All I can say is when I was at the factory, I asked about power difference. There statement was virtually nothing. btw, the cat system looks much much better. It does add cost. I think the bigger reason for going to a 12 vs 11 is the bigger screen on the dash, foldable platform and new graphics. If none of those are of interest to you, then go the new 11 for a much better deal.

You would not notice a difference with or without the cat. The ZR however, will have a stronger top end for footing, although you could foot at 38 behind an Excalibur.

Howdy fellas, this is my first post here on Planet, I have been a member on CCF for a couple years now and joined up here this week. Anyway, my opinion would be if your spending that much cash on a new boat, either the '11 or '12, whats a few more bucks to have the 409 and have the extra power when you do need it.

99% slalom, I'd get the 343 with or without the Cats. Plenty of power even on the shortest lakes (1925' is not that short). If you do tournaments, you probably will not see the 409 so might as well practice behind what you will get in tournaments.

You could buy the Mapple Icon from N3.

Don't care for it. Color scheme is OK, I have seen better, but I am really not a fan of having someones name plastered on it so many places. Not sure the resale will be any better than a "normal" 2012 SN 200.

That and the $90k they'll ding you! I bet they're not negotiating much off of retail on the Mapples (yet).

I would go the the 343 non cat and save the money. You don't have to worry about O2 senors or other EPA mandated equipment on the new motor.. The only thing you are gaining on a 12 is a bigger price tag and foldable platform brackets as mentioned before. The 6L is great to ski behind but you wont see it in any tournaments other then the Nationals or regional s and that is because of jump. it is also about a 7K upgrade.

Sorry Guy's but yes you will start to see 6 liters across the board in tournaments. I have not skied behind a 5.7 in tournament for 2 years now. this last weekend I went to four different sites in central Florida and skied behind four different boats, three Nautiques and one MasterCraft all with 6 liter all 2011 or newer boats. The 6 liter is starting to prove itself as superior package for the tournament world in all aspects. If you are considering a new 200 the 6 liter is defiantly the way to go. Seems the ZR-6 was match made for the 200! If you come ski at the Picko's site In Santa Rosa Beach you have the choice of skiing behind nothing but 6 liters in all three products that they have on site.
The 6 liter ball is rolling and it is snowballing ever bigger.
One of the boats I spent some time with over the weekend!

Having had both, I will second Jody's comments on the 6-liter. Perfect combination for the 200. If you ski any tournaments in Illinois or Missouri you will get a 6-liter if you are behind a Nautique.

No need for the 6L, not needed unless your in high altitude. No 6.0L around here, none. The 343 has plenty of power.

The 6L in my 2011 MC 197 promo boat was a dog out of the hole compared to the 2012 5.7L I have now. However, if top end is what you want then the 6.0 is a good choice.
