    New Prop

I am wanting to replace my factory prop on my 2001 SAN. As far as ballast right now I am running the 2 factory tanks in the rear, a 500 lbs sac on the floor in front of the rear seat, and a 1000 lbs trinagle sac in the front. My plan is to keep the 1000 lbs sac in the bow, get 2 additional 500 lbs sacs and throw in the lockers in the rear on top of the factory tanks, and place the other 500 lb sac in the ski locker. I was looking into the 1236 pro. Would this work well with this set up? Any other suggestions on a ballast set up?

    Thanks

I am adding you up to about 2900 lbs total with your future setup. Since you are a 2001, that tells me you should have the GT-40 with an OJ 14 x 18 prop stock. The 1236 ought to really get you out of the hole and be slightly less aggressive than the 1464. A lot of people use the 1236 with even more load than you are talking about (dual 750# in the back, 600+ in the ski locker and ~1000 in the nose) and it does fine. You will obviously lose top end speed of course.

What's awesome about the GT40 is that it produces so much torque at the low end of the power band that it actually can probably get that 2900# on plane after a while with the OJ 14x18. But it would be bad for it to do regularly.

You can also call ACME and tell them your setup and the will help you.

You can also just pull out the factory tanks, and replace them with the sacs of your choice -750s, 540s, whatever! It's nice to have all of the room in the back to work on the engine when the sacs are empty!

Yeah it is a GT 40 and thank you for the input. I have heard good things about 1236 but I will call ACME as well and see what they suggest.

      Thanks

I run the 1236 on my 01 and would recommend it. I run about 3500lbs with it no problem.
