    Bimini project

    Hello,
Wanted to share my bimini project. Found a bimini on craigslist with sunbrella material and taco ball and socket hinges, no idea if it would fit my boat. Got it home and discovered it would fit the tower with a little modification. The bimini frame length was short, and I had no idea what it came off of originally, but is almost brand new. Took me a while to figure out what hinges this thing had. I had never seen the ball and socket type. They are fairly expensive, but make a great product.

Decided I would mount it to my tower. I used tower clamps with a flat surface that are designed for board racks, and mounted 2 of the taco deck hinges to those, so now I can adjust the top height and location by unfastening the clamp.

Here is a pic of the deck hinge on the tower when it is folded, and another of the top when the tower is up.

How do you like your tower? Is that an Aerial? Solid? Squeeky? Folds down for Garage easy? I need a tower as well, and as much as I like the New Dimensions.. Its hard to justify the price comparison... so I was looking at the Aerial..It looks good on your boat.. I have a 95 SS.. which looks funny without a tower.... Bimini looks awesome btw..

Thanks guys...Yes, it is an aerial and I like the tower alot. It was put on by the previous owner. Quality is good, very sturdy. It does squeek sometimes, but then it reminds me I need to check the bolts to make sure they are tight. Once I get them all tightened, no more squeek. I can fold it down myself to get in the garage. I have heard they are easy to install as well, but didn't do this one, so couldn't say for sure.
