I agree with mikeski on just about everything, however I differ on his fit and finish opinion. I have an all black 211 and when I sight down the side there isn't a ripple, a wave or a blemish. I'm not denying that some hulls may have that but I'm not so sure that it's a fit and finish issue with every 211, and it would be something to look at on any boat you are going to buy.

I'll let you all know what I think after the test drive tomorrow. The price is the only thing that is getting me. I know it's the team edition with the upgraded motor, but still. What is a reasonable price for it? $38k? Remember it is in the best condition I've seen one used, low hours (190), and nice trailer.

I would think 37-38k. I found one at a dealer in San Antonio and they're asking $38k with only 125 hours.

That SV211 in San Antonio is not a team edition. I bought my 2005 SV211 Team Edition for $40K with 100 hrs a few years ago.

If he has already reduced the price to $40k before you have looked at it, I would take this as the new starting price. I agree with everyone else, mid 30s would probably be fair, $34 to 36k, but that's an opinion from about 2000 miles away. As long as the boat is properly maintained the hours make little difference - up to a point; which is worth more a boat that has 200 hours and is stored outside with no proof of maintenance, or a boat with 400 hours that is stored in a climate controlled garage and all maintenance records? There are so many variables that will affect the price, the 409 engine seems to be a point the seller is using to drive the high price (and i believe it was about a $5000 option when new) but it makes little difference on the resale - the 211 pulls great with the 330, the 409 is a neat option but not a necessary option (unless you're going to use it in salt water then it would be very nice to have because of the closed loop cooling - see, another variable). All I know is offer a lot less than what you are willing to pay.

This one isn't a team (and it's a dealer so there's a lot of room to play with the price). It doesn't have perfect pass, the digital gauges, key pad start and control panel, ballast tanks..etc...so not only is this not a team, it's not even optioned out very well.

So I just got back from my test drive. The owner really doesn't want to budge on price. This thing drove like a champ and it is being inspected right now by a shop so in case I missed anything. What do you guys think? Trying to get them to throw in some new carpet at least.

I don't know how you negotiate, but time is usually on the buyers side. Remember, for $40k you can buy pretty much any 211 at its advertised price, have it shipped, and still have some money left over. Good luck!

This guy wanted $42k originally so it's tough. The boat is really nice and the dealership that is taking care of me is really cool. Is it worth the extra savings to wait?

That's a question that only you can answer.
