Stopping water intrusion while surfing a 2005 SAN

I have a 2005 SAN and every time we get the surf wake dialed, it seems like that's right when water starts entering the fresh air intake for the motor. I want to know if anyone has any suggestions or pictures of what they've done to stop water from coming in through that vent. I thought of fabricating a "snorkel" of sorts or filling the vent hole with a foam cushion to reduce the amount of water entering but, I'm not sure. Has anyone dealt with this?

I have heard of several people just duct taping it shut.

I have thought of putting some gore-tex fabric sealed behind my vent like I put behind the horn cover which was letting water onto my amp board. Not sure if this would provide enough positive ventilation for the engine or not. It is suppposed to breathe and block water, but not sure if it would let the fumes accumulate in the engine compartment or not.

Duct tape. Then just remove when done. I also run the blower while surfing too so it vents some.

Go to a NAPA store and ask them for " crash wrap " . It's kinda like saranwrap , super clingy w/o the glue residue !
This stuff was made for us , I think :-)
            Have fun !!

Thats the beauty of the 2002 Sans, they dont have the side vents, they have a rear only blower vent.

Ive never heard of them refered to as fresh air intake vents? i always thought they were just blower vents??

Many good suggestions, but the sick and sad part is that these types of issues have to be fixed with Duct tape, stuffing sponges, saran wrap, etc. etc. etc.......Hey Nautique - these are obviously issues many owners face, know about and have shared, lets have a redesign to address the issues - put the vents somewhere else, have a way to seal or close off the vents when in "surf mode" or something -- no way in he(( we ought to be paying $100K for these boats and using duct tape or saran wrap for anything.

On my 2007 211 I cut out a piece of plexiglass the shape of the vent and then cut a smaller hole in the front of it, and it is usually above where the water comes in at now. some times it gets to that point but doesn't fill the boat up as fast. I took the vent cover off and put it under the cover and you can't even see that it is there. I have my cover over it for winter, but if you would like a pic i could get one for you and let you see.

Okay, I went to Napa Auto Parts today and found out that the "cash wrap" costs $20.49 per role and is only 1" wide. Not gonna work for me. For what that covers after applying probably 4-6 rows---I'm not paying an extra $10.00 every time I wanna surf. I'm gonna figure something else out. Does anyone know Macgyver's phone number?

Lay down masking tape and put duct over it. No sticky residue.

I have a 08 210 I have never had water anywhere near the side vents. Are you guys running big weight or is it only on certain boats?

Maybe the vent location is different on the old 210?
