    Hydrodyne wake comparison to SN2001

    What are other differences?
    Any disadvantages?

Who here has ridden behind a 1994-6 Hydrodyne DD GT-40 with open bow?

I have a choice between a SN2001 and Hydrodyne for same amount of $$. Hydro has more room.http://www.ctboatrepair.com/hydro/

I'm going to guess since the hydro was designed as a tournament ski boat the 2001 will trump the wake any day if you are looking to board. Never driven or skid a hydro but I think they are cool boats. Plus they are spinning PCM which is a plus.

Oh and if they are asking 10k + for a 2001 hull it better be one that has extremely low hours and looks like it just rolled out of the factory. That is pretty far out of line for a 2001 hull in good shape. You should be more in the 7500 to 8500 range for a very nice one.

I have a good friend with a closed bow Hydrodyne of about that ventage. The wakes are similar to my boat, in that they are rather steep with good lips. But it takes a lot of weight to get good size wakes out of his boat. I believe he normally runs around 1,750 lbs of balast plus 4 men in the boat, which gives a wake comparable to my boat with the factory balast full (850lbs) and 2 men in the boat.

The Hydrodyne is a nice ride, solid boat, I really like it. Though my friend is thinking about selling the Hydrodyne to get a SAN.
