Just wanted to let everyone know we picked up a 2011 Durango (20k miles) V8 HEMI. Pulled the boat to storage unit on Saturday... pulled very nicely!

Cool, I think you guys will love it! My wife smiled kinda sheepishly when I told her about the Hemi Durango!

When in doubt, get the heaviest tow vehicle with the longest wheelbase. Those mid size suv's are ok in nice weather with no emergency stops, but they are not serious tow vehicles. Just because they say they can pull x number of pounds, doesn't mean you should. Protect yourself and your family and get something with balls.

          Dave,
I'll agree with you, if you have a 2 hour tow every weekend, get a 3/4 ton truck. For the OP usage, a mid-sized SUV pulling a 4000# load 25 miles will be a good compromise. Not "bulletproof" but a pretty good solution.
From your handle, I'll guess you're a PCA member or racer? Car trailers are similar, but if you're using an enclosed trailer, then aerodynamic loading comes into play, and erring on the side of stout is a good idea...
Post pics of your other toy!
