So I upgraded from my '86 to a 2006 196 last fall. A few weeks ago I changed the oil in prep for the season. The owners manual called for 4 qrts of 15W 40. After 4 qts, it was still low......I added another quart.....still low. After 5 quarts the oil is just at the "add" line. Yes I ran it then let the oil drain. Im afraid to put 6 quarts in it but it is still reading low. How can this be? Any one with a 330 excal, how many qts do you use?

I want to say it is 5 quarts or just a tick over in our club 196 w/excalibur including oil in the filter. Make sure the dipstick is seating all of the way down on the tube when you measure. Better to be slightly low than over. I would run it and then recheck. If it requires oil add in small increments.2018 200 Team H6

My '06 Excal never took any more than 5 quarts, nor did my '07 or '08. This is a dumb question, but I'm assuming your boat is nice and level when you're checking the oil qty? I usually put 4 1/2 quarts in, then top it off once the boat is back in the water, so I know the motor is sitting flat.'08 196LE (previous)

Every PCM I have owned has listed the capacity as being less than it actually is. I am wondering if PCM lists capacity without the oil in the filter. Remember, slightly under is better than over.2018 200 Team H6
