Lost respect for n3 boatworks today!

Called n3 today to double check a number on an oil filter for my 03 san and they refused to help me with it. They said it wouldn't help them to give me that info because I'm not purchasing the part through them! You have got to be kidding me. An $8 part and they wont help you because I'm going to buy it somewhere else?! Got off the phone called Buxton and had my number right away! I was just blown away on this one!!!

Can't give Buxton's enough props. Phil and his crew are the best. Sorry about your experience at the other place. Maybe it was a misunderstanding.

White lake has always been nice to me even when i am not on the process of buying something. Pretty sure the guy knew the answer without looking it up. Thats an ASSumption though.I'm pretty sure you want a motocraft FL1-a.

Well, what do you expect they owe you? You think it is fun to fart around with someone over the telephone working on getting a part number? Because I promise it isn't. Get real. Just because they are a dealership doesn't mean they're your best friend and a free parts booklet.

For all we know, that's what the guy said when he hung up the phone. Meanwhile, my local dealer will walk me through the repair process and will help me out whenever they can. I know my limits on my mechanical abilities and always check with them on parts prices first. They are generally willing to match a price or beat it if they can, but they don't hold it against me if I can save real money buying it elsewhere. I take them beer for no reason at times and definitely take my boat there and nowhere else for service when it's not something I can turn a wrench on.

Do they owe him a thing? No. Clearly not. Did they lose a boatload of goodwill in treating him like they did? Absolutely. It strikes me as awfully petty. If they are making their money off of Motorcraft FL-1A filters, there are some issues other than making a buck.

Meanwhile, I can't say enough thing about Ski N Sports, my local dealer. They are top notch!

Actually, it kinda does. They represent CC and are one of it's touch points to consumers which means they should be there to support present and potential owners. Moreover, it shows what may be their approach to sales. Rather than build trust and relationships (which leads to referral and repeat business) they appear to focus on the quick, easy $$

There is a link to manuals at the PN home page, http://www.planetnautique.com/Correc...%20Manual2.pdf I think the info you are looking for can be found starting at page 18...
No need to be bitter with N3 (or to start a flame thread) in my opinion. Especially since he shared his most excellent surf wake set up with us!!!

I will take this opportunity not to tear anyone down, but to lift a company up, and that is Tyler Ski N Sports. Like east tx skier, I have had nothing but great experiences with them. They correctly fixed a problem that another local (much bigger CC dealer) was unable to help with, and have always been good about helping me save money, as well as a host of other things they do right.

Bad attitude at least . I know they are on here a lot maybe they will see this post and deflate this issue. I have never known them to be this way but I have very few dealings with them. I worked in the auto service business for years and one thing I know if you dont help your customers somebody else will.

I'm going to skip the quotation marks. Note this will be the slow version because people read slower than you talk. (Except College Station Aggies - they talk pretty slow.) Some from East Texas can't read at all...but the ones hanging out on this site probably can.

Can you tell me the part number for the oil filter for my Nautique?
Sure. That's easy. Is it a Ford engine or a Chevy?
                    Answer 1: A Ford? That's easy. PCM ......
Answer 2: A Chevy? That's a little tricky...Is it remote mount filter or block mount?
                    Okay.....its PCM ......
                    Thanks dude.
                    Sure...any time....thanks for calling dude.

Not necessarily quite that easy. Just because you have a '00 or newer boat doesn't mean everyone else does. What if he had a older "Correct Craft" with a Chrysler 318 motor? We're also only getting one side of the story here, let's not all be so quick to judge. Not flaming the OP but there's always 2 sides to every story. Also, could be just one guy having a bad day and taking it out on the customer (albeit still very wrong and needs to be dealt with appropriately). To the OP - my advice would be to call back and contact a manager to let them know of your experience. I know if I was managing a company such as N3 I would want to know when something like this goes down so I can discipline, then teach/coach/train. That's how improvements are made. If you just come on an internet forum and openly flame a company like you did, then IMO your credibility has already been compromised.

Ive had a few dealings with N3 in the past and Mark was always great to deal with. That is unfortunate that a CC dealer would say that. I can tell you that I called numerous dealers around the country a few weeks ago to ask about boat colors as my dealer did not have the particular color in stock. I explained to each dealer that I was in Indiana so they wouldn't be getting a sale but that I would appreciate their input. Each dealer was extremely helpful, especially White Lake.

My credibility has been comprised? I'm from Minnesota. My dealer was busy when I called them and was at the store already. I thought hey ill look up n3 and maybe they can help. Heard a lot of good things so I tried them. How can a "dealer" say that it wont benifit them to give me that info? So then call Buxton in TX again I'm in MN and they were more than happy to help. Sonwatersports in MN is awesome!! They don't carry nautique any more and they will still walk u through your boat to help you! Its not about $8. Its about your product and the passion people have in nautique. And to have a dealer representing nautique act like that is un-called for!

Not sure what being from Minnesota has to do with anything? So if you have a smart-phone like most people do these days and could look up N3's phone number, you should have been able to go to google and look up the proper model oil filter for your boat just as easy. You also just stated that your own dealer was "too busy" when you called. I don't see you complaining about that? If you can't figure out on your own what type of oil filter your boat takes, then maybe you shouldn't even be attempting to change the oil in your boat alone. Maybe call Obama and see if he can send some guys free of charge up to your place in Minnesota to help you out and do it for ya.

Excuse me! Buy a newer boat and u wounldnt even have had to reply to this! I'm not liberal and Obama can leave anytime. Being from mn was just to tell u I look around to see where other dealers are. Pretty sure I'm OK changing the oil my self. Check out n3 maybe they can set u up with a new boat
