    Grip tape suggestions?

Does anyone have any suggestions for grip tape or some sort of non skid material?

I am looking to to put it on my boat to cover the crappy gel-coat job that was done (by a local CC dealer...well previous CC dealer) to fill the holes of tower mounts. The space is relatively wide and would be a possible place to step into the boat. I was thinking if I can find a decent material, it may look alright, at least in the short term until I have someone redo the Gel work. The only grip tape I have seen is at the hardware store and seems to only come in a 3in wide roll, plus it very rough and something that is really meant for outdoor stairs or something.

    Thanks

If you buy skate grip tape make sure it's not the perforated brand. I can't remeber who makes it though.

I took off my tower and instead of having the gel coat redone, used gator grip. Very good product.

I also had good luck with hydroturf when I used it to replace the grip tape on the molded in platform on my old 1990 Sport. It was a large area and at the time they did not offer the colored stuff with the peel and stick backing in the size I needed so I went with the black stuff that needs to be put down with contact cement. I used the old grip tape as a template and it was pretty easy to cut the hydro turf using a utility knife and a little pressure to pull the sections apart once you made the cut. I put some cardboard behind the hydroturf while I was cutting so the blade had someting to bite into as it got through the rubber. I defintely reccomend cutting from the back side so the edge stays cleaner. I had this on for 2 summers and it still looks great, does not get slick wet or hot in the sun and it is much more comfortable to lie or sit on than the grip tape was.

I have never personally used Gator Grip but it is great stuff and also hands up well over time on my friends boats. My brother runs a boat garage and he had a sample wheel of some stuff similar to gator grip and hydro turf that I think I may try on my new boat. I will let you guys know how it works if I order some and what the product is called once I talk to my brother again.
