Picking out my G23 Colors

Well, I'm throwing down a deposit on a G23 on Monday. I'm thinking about going with the color scheme like the blue boat in the reveal. I may go with red metal flake though. My question is about the black hull. I've never had a colored hull. Will I be making a mistake going with it? I'm afraid that it will look like crap after a year.

You'll be fine with a colored hull as long as you take care of it. I had an all black boat and it looked fine the 2.5 years I had it. I never beached the boat though and always wiped it down after each use.

Have to float the boat on and off the trailer - otherwise the bunks will scuff it.

Jealousy aside, congrats. I have midnight blue on my hull. OKWAKEBDR is right about floating the boat on and off the trailer. Not a big deal, I just make sure the bunks are completely submerged. When I bought my boat, the hull was scuffed pretty bad around the bunks but not noticeable in the water and hardly visible on the trailer. A buffer, 3M Rubbing Compound, and then 3M Finesse-It II and it came right out. I would get a dark hull again, they look awesome!

I had a black hull 196 for several years (see my 2003 link below). No issues. Spray first 2-3' of the bunks with a silicone spray. This will help it slide on. Don't spray the whole thing or it will slide off. It will still get some scratches where the bunks are, but hard to see them. I'd get another one!

I have had three boats with black hulls. Never any problems with any of them. I think the black hull looks way better than the white on the G23. Looking at the boat from the front (when not in the water) the white hull under the bow looks a little funny. The black looks way better.

The blue w/ black looked amazing in person both at the unveil and today at the wakegames much better than the whitehull red/white one. Its a shame the blue/black g23 was sitting on the trailer and they resorted to use the backup green & black one after an issue.

Not how many they plan to build, but how many exist today? Right now?

As of a couple of weeks ago, I think the red one, the blue one and the green one were the only ones. Wait, no, there was at least one other, but I don't think it was ready for use at the time. Full production will start in May, I believe.

Jeff...can you confirm what issue the blue g23 had earlier this week & why it was sitting on the green/black's trailer instead of its proper trailer. A few riders told me today at wakegames the glitch but didnt want to put it out there before i confirmed.

Thanks for the responses. I think I will be going with the Black hull. After really looking at the white from the front, it really made the decision for me. I kind of thought I would be floating it on the trailer and in my area, there's no way in **** I'm beaching it.

It would be interesting to know what the problem was. I'm sure there will be some glitches at first. Hopefully, they will be all resolved before August.

I had heard that 80 something boats had been sold by this weekend. I know that's not produced yet, there's certainly a backlog.

The black hull will look really cool, but there'll be some time invested in keeping it looking clean and shiny. I had a reverse 196 with red bottom, and it was a pain in the butt to keep looking new. However, it did look really cool in my opinion, but I wouldn't do a reverse again. Silicone on your bunks and not beaching it will help immensely. I can imagine how pumped you must be to get your new boat home! There aren't too many better days in life, than delivery day:-)

I talked to Bill Yeargen at the Wakegames on Saturday. He said they have 4 Nautique owned G23's. Production has not yet started on them.
