Someone Please Help FCT on a 1989 2001

I am new to the forum and really need some good advice. I bought a FCT from a newer air nautique and am trying to get it to fit on my 1989 2001. I brought the tower to the mechanic at the marina where I keep my boat and he is telling me that there is no way the tower will work on my boat. I looked into New Dimensions towers but they are 2000.00. I can see spending that kind of money on my older boat. I see a lot of older nautiques on the web that have FCT's on them so there has to be a way to get it to fit. I am really looking for some advice on what to do. I am not putting a monster tower on the boat, I just don't like the big swoopy look.

I have seen a few older posts out there where people have gotten these to fit but they don't go into too much detail on how they did it. I would love to talk to someone that could help me out on this. I have a great TIG guy that can lay down a stack on nickels with the best of them so I just need to know why the mechanic is telling me that the tower wont fit. He said something about the angles and that the lower support bar wouldn't clear the windshield, I don't know if this is true or if he just doesn't want to be bothered. I actually already put the tower up for sale but after looking at alternatives to the FCT I am not all that impressed. I have seen a few other towers that I like but If I can get the FCT to work then I want to just stick with what I have.

Any advice would be more than appreciated.

Yes it's possible. The tower will need some adjusting before it fits but it can be done. Look for Anthony Lizardi on this forum and or correctcraftfan.com's forum, he managed to fit one iirc.

Hey the fct tower will fit you just have to have it modified. The boat your are tring to mount it on
is a lot narrower than 90's and up models. Also you going to need to reinforce your deck and use really big dead blow
hammer to get tower legs were they need to set flat on the deck. It well fit just it takes a lot of putting it on and taking or
off. Good luck.

Did you ever put the FCT on your '89? I put one on my '87 back in 2005. Had to bend the rear legs in ~10 degrees, and cut and re-welded the front mounting pads. I'll be happy to answer questions.

My super sport has a FCT4 tower. Previous owner had to cut out about 4 inches from the middle of the tower and tig weld it back together. Fits great now. Just find a competent welder and measure it as precisely as you can. Not a lot of room for error when mounting those tower feet flush on the deck.
