my wife (about 120lbs) successfully surfed our 196 yesterday. 400lbs sac port side, two passengers rear seat corner and one in spotters seat and about 8.5-9 mph. The pic doesnt do the wake justice. Its no SAN but it was pretty decent. It worked for her! She did eventually ride ropeless for about 15 seconds. Our first time trying!

I weigh about 180 and can surf behind my 176. I use one 750lb sac across the back, one side sac on the right side next to the engine, and another sidesac layed on top of both toward the back right corner. This is with only a 170lb driver in the boat doing 9mpr according to the perfect pass (the speedo says 11mpr). My board is the longer ronix duke. Defenently need to heed xlairs warning; the boat is tricky to drive and requires an experienced driver.

Maybe I am going too fast (10.8) but we seemed to always go pearling at lower speeds. Any advise?

          DGC,

I found that the new broadcast board you have tends to pearl/nose dive more than the old one. (I believe it's a new version this year) The inland surfer boards are much more buoyant...

Figures, they had both at the shop and I bought the new one. I will try the speed range again and am considering adding one more sac. Anyway, it sure seems like a fun activity and my wife (new to boating last year) is even enjoying it.
