    2008 211 TE Prop Suggestions

After dewinterizing my boat I noticed the prop got a little messed up last year. I sent it out to get rebalanced and fixed, but I want to put another prop on there and keep the factory prop on as a spare.

I was trying to decide if I should go with an Acme 1161 or 1579.

We primarly wakeboard with the boat, a few of my friends kneeboard and the occasional skier gets pulled. The only thing is with the 1579 I'm worried that the top end speed will be reduced too much. Does anyoneone know what the top end is on this prop? If anyone has either of these props how do you like them compared to the factory prop?

    Thanks Guys!

Call Bill Weeks at Acme. He gave me a lot of excellent advice, although I did not end up making a change before I sold my 211 a few months ago. Also, before you make the change, have a look at the current clearance you have between the end of the prop blade and your hull, I was told you want to maintain about an inch of clearance (here we go with the gel coat burn debate; just sayin' what I heard). Making a 1" change in diameter will produce a one half inch difference in clearance.

He did provide this info on another prop, however (His answers are interlineated into [my questions]:

"The Acme 1273-14.50X14.25VL4B 1.125 .150 cup four blade nibral propeller. [Can you tell me approximately what differences I will experience in RPMs at surf speed (11)] Increase by 350 to 400 rpm. [Wake Speed (20)] Increase by 450 - 500, [and cruising (25)] Increase by 550 to 650. [and what my reduction in top end would be?] will cost you about 3-4 mph top end speed. What you will really see is the difference in plane time for wakeboarding & you will also burn less fuel when working the boat hard."

Another resource is wakeprops.com they have a prop selector guide based on which model / year Nautique you have and what kind of ballast or conditions you have.

So far, one thing I have gathered is that by increasing cup you will be able to reduce (marginally) the rpm you run at cruising speed and still enjoy the hole shot performance of a shorter pitch / larger diameter prop.

(If you are in need of a 645 I have one to part with.)

are you running with a lot of ballast (over stock) and which prop do you now have?

        Halo,

I have the 1579 on my 2010 210. It tops out at about 38 with the RPM's in the 4k cruising speed.

I have had 8 different props on my SV211 and I ended up with a 644 (645 for your boat), this is the factory team prop. I ran the 1234/1235 for a couple weekends and found it destroyed the slalom wake. If I purely wakeboard/surfed behind the boat it would be a good prop. I ran the 1160/1161 for a while too but the 644/645 seems to do a little better with the smaller diameter. I thought the 1272/1273 had too much cup for the Excalibur 330 to turn effectively, the 1234/35 worked a little better all around. If I had the ZR6 I would probably be running a 1160/61 or the 1272/73. I also have an 856 but it has never been on the boat so I can't tell you about that. I also tried an OJ 13.7x14.7 but it was not as well rounded as the 611. The 1579 is a good wakeboard prop for a 210 due to lower prop clearance but I would rather run the 1234/5 on a 211.

I had a spreadsheet with lots of results but I tossed it after installing the fresh air exhaust since it also shaves off a few mph top speed. Doesn't help that I have about 300lbs of stereo gear on board too. Throw in bimini and top of rack wakesurf boards so I end up pushing a wall of air.

I push my boat to the limits with wakesurfing, wakeboarding, slalom, and barefooting so I have no room for compromise. It still can't quite muster enough speed for me to do one-foot barefoot so I guess I will need to lose 10-15 pounds if I ever want to do those behind my boat.

I recently moved from the factory 1579 to a 1235 on my 08 210. I run probably around 2200 lbs total ballast. I found that the 1235 produces noticeable hole shot increase. I used to struggle for several seconds to get out of the hole with my 343 Exc. but now it jumps up and I am at speed in less than 10 seconds fully loaded. I'm going to be sticking with it and using my 1579 as my spare now.

I have the 1234/1235 on my 05 211 TE and love it. I don't really ski very often and run a lot of extra weigh, so it works well.
