Ram Lin and Boatmate Trailers

I see your trailer has the "runway LED's" offered by Boatmate as an option, what color are they and do they only turn on when the reverse lights are on? Do they stay lit when the running lights are on? I think it would be a good safety feature to have them on at night, would give the boat/trailer more visibility to passing traffic.

They come on when the parking lights are on and the back of the trailer gets submerged in water . They are white when lit.

I will add a few other concerns regarding the Ram-Lin trailer. I've never had a bow stop before and not sure if I will like it or not. The trailer would look much nicer without it IMO but if the function is there I can live with it. Seems like more precaution is needed to load on a trailer with the bow stop. Also, Ram-Lin uses a 5-pin flat for the electric connection instead of the 7 blade round. I'm going to have to use an adapter to hook it up to my truck.

I replaced a Ram-lin with a Boatmate on my '95 SN and could not have been happier. After I did that, two other guys at our lake dumped their old '90s Ram-lins for new Boatmates. Our local promo guy has the Boatmate under the new (yet to skied) 200 and already likes it better. But yes, with the bunks, the boat will likely sit a bit higher. It did with my '95.

Argggghhhhh. Had I known that I would have opted for both. I wonder if the bow stop can be easily replaced.

I believe so. It is removable by pulling a pin, and I believe the roller pad assembly just slides into the same location. Not 100% sure on that, but I think it is right.

For what it is worth, I like loading a boat onto a trailer with a crash pad better than one with the roller pad. It is much easier to get things centered up. It is way easier to get a cover on and off with the roller pad though. I usually put the cover on the tip of the bow before I load it onto the trailer on trailers with a crash pad. Otherwise it is sometimes tough to get the cover between the crash pad and the boat. Obviously the cover on my 230 wasn't an issue either way. I liked that cover quite a bit, almost as much as my CoverSports cover.

I'll have to use it for a season and see how I like it...or how my wife likes it. She usually loads the boat and I back the trailer. Good point about the cover with the bow stop. I never trailer with a cover and usually only put my cover on when I'm done for the season. My shop stays nice and clean.

When is the PN 210 going to be down at White Lake? I am headed down Saturday to pick up our boat and plan to hit Kerr on Sunday. I can't wait to get a skate set in.

It was supposed to be completed on Friday, but we had a last minute change, so it may be delayed a bit. I was hoping to pick it up in Orlando on Friday and take it up to WL on Saturday to have the SeaDek put in, but that hasn't arrived yet either.

As I was typing this, Super Ron just called and said it would still likely be ready on Friday. Once I get total confirmation, I will probably go get it on Friday and be at WLM on Saturday too. Probably see you there!

My current trailer has bow roller, my last two had bow stops...I'll take the bow stops all day long. There is no question that I'm pointed in the right place, vs a roller that I can not see while driving up. I could pull a pin and pull my bow stop, put the cover on and replace the stop, so that was not an issue for me.

Hey thanks everyone. Sounds like the Boatmate sits a little higher than the Ram Lin ... which won't work with the height of my 7' garage door? Nhunter, any chance you could take a measurement through the middle of a fender from ground to the bottom edge of your boat? Mine measures 730mm (approx 2.4ft) if yours is no higher then i'm good to go with a Boatmate..

We've had both brands, and were happy with them. The wishbone Ramlin did allow the boat to sit lower than than bunk Boatmate.
