    Ram Lin and Boatmate Trailers

Can anyone tell me if these two trailers sit at approx the same height, or is one higher than the other? Current 08 210 with Titan tower sits on a Ram lin Trailer and just squeaks under my 7' garage door. Looking at a new 2012 210 and keen on a Boatmate trailer this time round. Not unhappy with the Ram lin, it's very well built and tows real good ... just like the look of the Boatmate better. Any pro's & con's on this trailer vs the Ramlin, e.g build quality, towability and loading etc?

I will second Ram-Lin's.....my Ram-Lin tows like a champ....My only issue is the fender pad is carpeted plywood which has resulted in the inside of my fender rusting on both sides over time. I took a look at my local dealers Boatmate trailers......don't quote me but it appears that Boatmate has used carpeted HDPE plastic (High-density polyethylene). Replacing my Ram-Lin with stainless fenders with HDPE fender pads is on my winter punch list.

I've always had Prestige trailers. They were great but no longer is business. New boat is on a Ram-Lin and I am looking forward to seeing how it does. Little weary of only two bunks for support but everyone swears by them including Correct Craft so I am sure I will like it.

This doesn't answer your Q any better than the others, but I had a boat mate tandem axle trailer with a 206 on it. It was rock solid and I never had any problems with it in 7 years when I sold boat and trailer. Check out their website and give them a call, they have excellent customer service.

I have a 08 210 on a custom Boatmate . I have put thousands of miles including Indiana to Georgia no problems so far. Its easy to load and unload and tracks perfectly. I chose the Boatmate because it had more bling but it functions great too . The inner fenders are plastic /carpet . Owen Sheldon was very good to work with. If I had it to do again I wouldn't change anything.
I dont know anything about Ran Lin. I'm sure they are good too.

I think the boat mate may sit higher, since most that I have seen sit the boat on top of the fender, not in between as the ramlin does. That is my observation with malibu's on boatmates, and a couple of 200's on them. The 210's may be different.

I'm in my second season with a Boatmate and have only positive comments. I don't have any experience with Ram-Lin trailers so I'm not suggesting they don't offer the same features or perform similarly but here are a few of my observations with the Boatmate:

                1) Loads easily... get the boat close to centered and the bunks put it right in place
                2) Tracks well... with in/out of storage and to/from the lake I put on ~200 miles every time I bring out the boat... no issues
                3) Nice components... jack, heavy duty coiled electrical cable, wheels
                4) Electrical and Safety Chain management... The storage facility I use valet parks so it's nice to be able to cleanly secure these so they aren't dragging
                5) Guide bars... simply removable to make waxing the boat easier
                6) Fit and Finish - A year is not enough time to judge durability but I'll say the trailer looked great when I got it and has held up great so far

To actually answer your original question, I don't think you will find a trailer that bunks the boat lower than a ramlin.

You are correct my 210 sits just above the fenders. I know it fits easily through a 8' garage door with tower down . I have a SMP trailer on my Supra the boat sits between the fenders and it is possible to load the boat on top of a fender if you are not careful.
I dont think you can make a mistake with either one.

I have a 2000 210 on a boatmate tandem axel and it goes in a 8' door with the tower down. Sheldon Owen, as stated above is good to work with. The ram-lin wish bone trailer will hold the boat lower. Both are good trailers, however, someone is asleep at ram-lin for still covering plywood with fabric on something that regularly gets dipped in water.

To answer your question. A Boatmate trailer is a bunk style trailer - the boat sits on bunks mounted to the frame, a Ram-Lin Trailer is a frame style trailer (at least most, are I saw a new Byerly with a Ram-Lin bunk trailer) - the boat sits on the frame itself. On a Boatmate (or any bunk style trailer) your boat will be higher than on a Ram-Lin, somewhere between 3 to 5 inches higher.

                          NHunter,
I see your trailer has the "runway LED's" offered by Boatmate as an option, what color are they and do they only turn on when the reverse lights are on? Do they stay lit when the running lights are on? I think it would be a good safety feature to have them on at night, would give the boat/trailer more visibility to passing traffic.

I would suggest calling Boatmate and talking to Owen. Tell him your concerns and you will get the correct answer. Boatmate is a top notch company...give them a call.

How much do tandem axle trailers go for in the states? No extra bling, regular wheels, for a 210. Either Boatmate or Ram-lin.
