    severe oxidation

Just wondering what everyone suggested for pretty severe oxidation? I bought this boat that spent it's life on a small covered lift fo the sides are oxidized. I am hoping to find something to use something that won't damage my stickers.

    Thanks!

I got all my stuff from Napa, but you can probably find it online cheaper. I don't like to wait for things....

I had an 86 that looked like that. I used a product called Poli-Glo and looooooooved it. With the exception of wet sanding and all that jazz, this product is killer! I would buff your boat with 3m's Finess it II, then use this 2 part system. First a cleaner, then apply the product. Just my opinion, if you want the look af new gel coat without a weeks worth of work.

FYI, the poliglow is a band aid at best- and I highly doubt it will cover up an oxidation problem like that. It simply covers over the existing gel and makes it look shiney... but it doesnt address the real problem, and I dont see how it could possibly make oxidized gel look much better.

To restore the color, you need to remove the oxidized gel. Your boat doesnt look too bad- theres a chance an aggressive compound may be able to do it. Though, its likely you'll have to sand. Lots of info on this site and even more info on CCFan if you want the particulars on how to do this properly.

i would plan on going ahead and taking off the stickers and replacing them. your gonna need to hit that thing pretty hard with a buffer and compound, and you dont want to neglect under/around the stickers. i've had great results with meguiars fiberglass restoration kit, you will need a good orbital buffer though ...
