    New Cover from Cover Sports...

Received our new cover on Saturday from Brent at Cover Sports....to fit a 2012 team 230 (went with the Cadet Grey cover)

Couldnt put it on the boat yet, as we are picking her up this Saturday. So I rolled it out in the yard and called Brent to get walked through what to do (Thanks Brent, very helpful) - I think I understand it - but since I have the handyman skills of a newborn baby - Im pretty nervous about screwing it up. Hardest part seemingly is cutting that second tower cord in right place.....

Question for those of you with these covers -- I see the "J" hooks that hold the cover tight on the rub rail attach by Velcro. Do you all leave these "hooks" velcro'd t the cover all the time or remove them each time you put on and off the cover? (they seem to velcro pretty well, just dont want to lose them)

Also - I am supposed to unscrew two screws at the rear of the boat (I think he said they are in the rub rail) to attach the two little plastic things to and then put the screws back in the rub rail ? (this if I understand it is what the two rear middle straps of the cover attach their triangle shaped plastic hooks to?) Anyone know about this and have any pics ? -- Im sure it may be apparent if I had the boat in front of me, just trying to get a head start on understanding this before having to do it.

Has anyone had any issues with the velcro J hooks rubbing or scratching the gel coat or rub rail ? (Ive never had a cover sports cover, so its a new experience for me)

Thanks all -- will try and get some pics of the new 230 up after the weekend.

Hi ccs. I've got the same questions. I received my coversports cover for my 210 at the end of last season and I haven't really installed it yet. I think I've got everything else figure out, except getting the J-Hooks together. Hopefully someone answers your thread so I can learn as well. I can't imagine that you put them on each time as that would take awhile and everyone talks about how quick and easy this cover is.

I'm getting the boat out of storage this weekend. Its been a long winter!

The J hooks will connect to the velcro sewn into the gunwale sides of the cover. The J's hook under your rubrail to hold the cover tight - they are velcro so they're easy to adjust. Once you get them where you want them, do not remove them after each use, just leave them in place.

J hooks stay on always. A little adjusting here to there till its perfect, but then thats it. No they dont scratch anything. Yes, you remove a few screws on the transome rub rail and swap out with the new screws that have a nipple for the rear plastic rings to attach to.

migs -- thanks....I didnt get any new screws with the cover to swap with after adding those nipple looking things -- can those just be added onto the existing screws and then put back into place ?

          Thanks...

I would get 1/2" longer screws to make sure they get back into the "meat" and don't pull out.

CCS - now that you mention it, maybe i just got the nipples and not new screws???? honestly cant remember anymore, but i would just use the original screws since you didnt get new ones and see if it tightens nice and snug. Im sure its all good. Everything on that entire cover is top notch - i doubt Brent would neglect anything.

Screws didn't come with the cover, the nipples are 1/2" long. The screws appeared to not pull the rub rail in tight until I replaced with the longer screws. When you put the tension on the straps, the extra strength of $1 worth of screws worth it, imo.

ski4evr -- good to know -- but since I have no skills when it comes to screws or fixing anything, I'll likely have to pull one out of the rub rail and take it to Lowes and ask for same thing just a bit longer....

OK guys and gals -- got the new boat today - tried to get the cover sports cover on for 2 hours...pretty much figured it out except for some pretty big gals around the tower legs and I CAN NOT figure out the cinch strap in the rear AT ALL ???

If anyone can do a short video of actually putting your cover sports cover on and detailing how that back part comes together and cinches, showing how you hooked it up and put which strap through where - I WOULD SO APPRECIATE IT......Ive emailed Brent on the gaps in tower legs and another area - will see what he has to say before I post those pics...thanks to anyone who can do a video etc...

Can someone please post some pics of the coversports on a 230? I am very displeased with the factory cover from CC (doesn't fit over the rub rail and therefore has a lot of sagging). Below are a couple pics. My AD is submitting this as a warranty issue to CC . .. we'll see what happens but I'm very interested to see how the coversports fits.

                        Thanks

Somethings not right... the factory 230 cover does come down over the rub rail and does pull tight. Based on others comments on the coversports it sounds like the factory cover is more of a hassle to put on but once you've got it it does a good job.

Might be the year? My AD is relatively small . . . mine is the 3d 230 it's received this year and although it was a custom order, mine is the first to sell. The other two are in the AD's showroom and after I emailed those photos they pulled out the covers for the other two boats to see if those fit (they we're going to swap mine out if it did) and both of the other covers for the 2012 230s had the same issue. Thus the warranty claims.
