    Window removal

I posted here yesterday, but looks like the thread got deleted??

I am trying to remove the windows from my 94...does anyone have advice on how to do this?

I have gotten only 1 screw out of the frame, the others are stcuk! Yes, I hit them with my purse but they won't budge.

    Thanks

I do not have a 94 Correct Craft boat, mine is a 1997. I believe the windshield is just held on with screws, and more often than not they loosen by themselves, but that is not your case.

If you try to remove a relatively soft stainless steel Phillips head screw with a worn screwdriver, you will strip out the head on it. If the screwdriver is not exactly straight, you will strip the head out.

This is a case where a quality tool, like Snap On, or Klien screwdriver will work much better that some mass marketed screwdriver bought down at the local hardware store. I am sure there are other quality screwdrivers out there, but the two I mentioned will work, providing the heads of the screws are not already damaged. Get a good screwdriver, keep it as straight to the screw as you can, and push down hard on the screwdriver to keep the bit of the screwdriver from slipping in the head of the screw. Use a hand screwdriver, not a motorised one. The time you save by using a motorised screwdriver will be lost dealing with more damaged screws

If the heads are damaged, you may have to drill the damaged head off the screw. Drilling Stainless steel is a PITA. You will need very slow drill speeds, sharp drill bits, made for stainless steel, and you will have to keep the drill bit lubricated.
Stainless Steel work hardens when heated up. This makes it almost impossible to drill.
