Also one thing that was changed in 04/05 was the location of the subwoofer. In '03, it was located under the passanger seat, but in a way that it blocked off storage that usually extends to under the boat. Think of it this way, the subwoofer was perpendicular to the boat, if that makes sense...

It '04/05 they made it so it is up against the side, allowing for a lot more storage, and the ability to fit a small slalom ski, (or big one, depending on the binding) under the passanger seat.

just talked to the local CC dealer and he did not have glowing things to say about the 03 216 (the one I am looking at is in another city). He said with the sub and the shape of the tanks it has no storage (I wonder what his sales pitch was in 03???) Of course he was trying to sale me an 05 206 SE for just a little more than the 03 216TE. To be honest, he may have just talked me into the malibu. Just to get input, the 03 TE I am looking at is listed at 35.5. My delaer said that was a bit high, what do y'all think?

      thanks

'02 Air Nautiques (old 216 name) are selling for that much sometimes. Seems like a great price on a '03! And that comes with all the goodies right? PP, depth guage, flight clips... Makes me want to sell ours and pick up that one.

Check the price on the '05. You'll see that is a good price. I am also looking at what I paid for an '04. Again....CALL GREG MELLON. You can Google Midwest Correct Craft in Angola Michigan. The guy is some kinda honest. He'll tell it to you very straight. Since he is Correct Craft.

He quided me seriously to the 216 and has always been straight with me, my brother and our Correct Craft owning friends. I used to Live in Cincinnati.....No correct craft dealer there. We ended up always talking to the guys at Midwest Correct Craft when we wanted to fixe our boats. They walked us through all kinds of maintenance. My brother will still only buy full price parts from them cause of the great support (sorry Eric in Columbus) over the years.

One of boys just bought a '03 216 from Mid Ohio that I talked about above.

Ok, just got logged out again doing Quick Reply, but I remember this time what I said...

About the rear storage issue, do you have or any of your friends use a 68" ski? If you don't, I'd just totally disregard that whole issue. The depth and every other aspect of the rear storage is the same and nothing is wrong with it. You probaby wouldn't even notice the tanks on the side unless you specifically looked for it and had a ski with you. Storage is still great, until you try to get a 68" ski in there.

As for the passanger seat storage, I actually can't remember any time I've used that space for a ski. I may leave a useless paddle there, a spot for dry clothes, throwable PFD, cushion for playpen seating when its not being used, and maybe some shoes. But those are all things you can still put in an '03 216. And even if it really was a problem, it is extremely easy to move the woofer to another location, and at the same time, improve it. You'd kill two birds with one stone that way.

I wouldn't let either of these minor issues stop you from buying the correct boat. Don't let the dealer's selfish sales tactics get to you. You may spend more time at the dealer before you get your boat, but once you get it, the less you see him the better. Having a good boat and bad dealer is better than having a bad boat and a good dealer--no point in having a good dealer if the boat is incorrect.

            Good luck!

P.S. Send me a PM if you wan't any pics of anything on the 216. Next week we'll have the boat summerized  and as far as I'm concerned that means summer is here.

I'll be doing a forum upgrade sometime within the next two weeks that should help this problem. I'm just waiting for the final version of the software upgrade to become available.

No worries. I take a really long time to type so I am just in the habbit of copying right before I submit it. But I'm sure whatever you do will help and make the site that much better, thanks!

I could be wrong but I think the biggest difference between the 216 and 206 is in the bow. THe 216 is far more comfortable. Is that important to you? I never get used to how much emphasis some buyers are putting on wake design and tend to have no other criteria other than price. Maybe I'm getting old and my priorities are changing. Besides, my wife likes to hang in the bow, and that matters a lot to me!

I don't know the used market much, but an 03 216TE sounds like a much better deal than on 05 206 IF YOU WANT THE TOWER AND PP. I think the tank doesn;t do too much for the wake anyway. I figure wakeboarding is second to skiing for you anyway, or you wouldn't be considering the 206 at all.
