Hello all , I am new to the group and wanted your opinion on the python motor for the 1999. Pros and cons. Thanks.

They are really loud, they will rattle bolts loose, they use oil, they are hard to find parts for, and use lots of fuel.

You know I am kidding right. Ask any python owner if they would sell and see what they say. No, mine isn't going up for sale for a long time.

They are really loud and they do burn oil. But as Brad said, Python owners rarely sell (except maybe to get a much newer boat).

Just sold a Pro Air Python, really LOVED that engine! So much so, I was really biased against considering a small block powered Vdrive, but space and utility won out. As has been noted, the Python will burn a little oil (although mine would only sometimes use a quart between oil changes), and if you run them hard/fast, they will burn some fuel! I checked consumption on mine when loaded up (about 10 people!) and wakeboarding, surfing and one slalom run (!), and the boat burned right at 5 gallons per hour. Really cool thing about the Pythons is the low end tourque allows you to run a good sized prop, and still get it up on plane quickly.
Oh, and they are LOUD stock, but I loved the sound that engine makes! I ended up putting a Fresh Air Exhaust on mine to diminish the noise and fumes...

"1999 Pro Air Python-sold but still can visit her!"

              That. Is an awesome statement!
