2002 SN 196 LE Value?

I'm considering buying a 2002 SN 196 LE in good to very good condition. 930 hours. Perfect Pass, CD, Bimini, Cover, shower, original owner.


NADA is $17.8K with all the goodies.


Anyone have an opinion about what this boat is worth? Would love actual recent sales data.

I have been watching these early 196's and the NADA value seems about right or maybe a tad high for a boat getting that close to 1000 hours, or not? There are two on ski-it-again for $23k each, I would not pay that for either. I would compare this to a MasterCraft Prostar 190 from a value standpoint and there is one of those for sale near me with an asking price of $19k but it only has 350 hours on it. I could probably buy that MC for $18k and would much rather have the lower hour boat at that price point.

For a 10 year old boat the condition of the interior is going to be a big value setting variable. If it has zero sign of wear and tear then it will pull top dollar. If it has minor signs then a bit less, if it has split seams, hard spots, punctures or tears then it will significantly reduce the value of the boat. Same applies to scratches.

I sold mine last year with 700hrs in mint condition for the price you see listed for the two on ski-it-again. simply put, was a great boat. Would not even consider the MC 190 at the same price, regardless of the hours. but condition is the critical factor.

Yes, that is the trick isn't it. The one on ski-it-again for $23K is the one I'm considering purchasing. My experience with these boats is 900 hours is not huge, the 100 hour seasons are normal serious-skier usage. And if well maintained, they can have a lot more life left in them. But, I'd like to be much closer to book. Also, that boat has prestige trailer, single axle, drum brakes, so not the nicest trailer in the world.

Appreciate the information. Real market data is hard to come by.

my prestige trailer is fine (not the best, but fine) and for a 196 I would prefer a single axle

I have one locally its a 2001 with 230 hours, perfect pass, etc. Pristine condition. Do I offer $25K? It is listed at $27.5K trailer has 100 miles on it as it was on a private lake on a lift.
