Who plans to go to the Masters and if so how long have you been going? I have been going since 93

The wife and I plan on going..It will be our first....
Where is the best place to watch from...and can you take your own coolers and Lawn Chairs in........We are looking foward to this...

This will be my third trip to the Masters. The best place to view the action is the pavilion. It is also nice to have a roof over your head in the case of rain. You can see everything from the beach too though, and some people like the beach better because you can go jump in the lake if you want to between events. You can bring your own lawn chairs, coolers, etc if you are watching from the beach. If you're watching from the pavilion, I'd recommend bringing some type of cushion for the bleachers, as they can get pretty hard after sitting there for a few hours.

My family and I started going to the masters in the late 70's or early 80's. I've still got the first Masters T-shirt I bought there (navy blue with a yellow and red skier on the back - anybody remember what year that was?). We attended every year after that for about the next 7 or 8 years. Other things came up the next several years and we didn't get to go. But we started back about 5 years ago, and plan on going this year. It's a great family trip and mini-vacation for the young and old alike. I'm so old I can remember Ricky McCormick doing the first flip on a trick ski! It was after his trick run and for exhibition only at that time. Was this the Grandfather of Wakeboarding? Who knows? We all ways have a great time whether we are in the Pavalion or on the beach. Be sure to bring your sun screen! (anyone remember the "Body Glove" girls?)

We're going again this year - Pavillion is the best place to watch, Beach is the best for a family w/ kids. It all is fun! Our kids (9 & 12) really look forward to it each year - been going for 10+ years. See you there!!!!

Here's some news that has started surfacing today. This is not confirmed by Correct Craft, but is on the AWSA South website.

US Masters Goes Back to Mens Jumping, Dumps Skifly

Six foot jumping returns to the Masters this year! In an amazing about face, the Masters Committee has decided to ditch skiflying and return to the jump event for both Men and Women. The original invitees in skifly will be permitted to jump. Additional invitations will be extended to at least four additional men jumpers that were not on the skifly list, but who qualify based on IWSF rankings. Looks like the Mens jump event will be well populated this year----just like Men's slalom.

The only thing left to do is bring back Overall........... Just need to find a few more sponsors, eh?

Congratulations to Correct Craft for this move that was supported by a large number of skiers and spectators at the Masters.

Personally, I am dissapointed, and as far as spectator support, they must have talked to the flyers wives because I do not know of one person that did not prefer flying over jump. Besides, the fly boat was the highlight of the weekend for us gearheads.

I just got word from Correct Craft that this is indeed true. There will be no Ski Fly event at this year's Masters.

Who has been to the Masters?

My wife and I are thinking about going to the Masters this year at Calloway Gardens. I'm looking for feedback on what it's like from people that have been before. Can you see well from the beach seats ($6)? Are there just a bunch of people laying out in lounge chairs at the beach area?

You can sit in the grassy area above the actual "Beach", or sit in the sand on the beach. To get a better view, you can wade out into the swimming area which is even better. They also have a big TV type thing (Jumbo-tron?) stationed at the end of the beach that shows about every thing going on. Of corse the best (but HARDEST) seats are in the Pavilion. Some say it's worth the price difference, but if you have kids, your best bet is the beach area. I've had a great time both ways. Hope you do too!

Just heard a rumor that Andy Mapple was coming out of retirement to ski at the Master's. Anyone know if this is true?

I haven't heard that, but there is some exciting news that might be related. According to World Waterski Pros, Chris Parrish set a pending new Men's World Slalom Record of 1 1/4 @ 43 this afternoon at the Isles of Lake Hancock. Maybe Andy wants to answer to that!
