    2012 SAN 210TE error code

Hey everyone, has anyone else seen this error code? "Closed-Loop Gasoline Bank1 High"
Just picked up my 2012 SAN 210TE and on the second day I received this "warning" on my Linc system screen. After shutting down the motor and restarting I received a similar message except this time it was Bank2.

We read the book and are in talks with dealer but I'm just wondering if anyone has ever seen this.

    Thanks all!

Rodger -- let me guess, you are running the PCM either 409 or 450, right ? -- if so I know your problem - its what delayed my 2012 team 230 delivery for a couple weeks..

Your dealer better have the whole shop on the phone and in trucks getting to u. I know Buxton would. Good luck I know it's got to be rough, new boats should be perfect ( so we think anyway).

this is an bug/error that can be fixed by your dealer uploading some software fix into your boat. we've been dealing with this in a 2012 SAN 230 the entire year, as well. haven't found time to get it up the dealer yet to get it resolved...will be nice once it fixed though, as it is quite annoying.

Hey CCS, it's the 409. Good guess my friend! So is it just a simple firmware fix to the software?

FYI, The error code on the display is:

              DTC 1157

              Closed-loop gasoline bank1 high
              SPN 4238
              FMI 0

I tried looking them up but I don't understand what they could be. Something with O2 sensor or something. I have no idea!

              Thanks to all who replied!

This is all purely speculative, but my guess would be the engine is running too rich (meaning too much fuel) during closed-loop operation.

                Open Loop

Open loop simply means there is no feedback of the result to the ECU. In our case, it means there is no sensing or measuring of the exhaust gas to see how the engine is running. The fuel injected is determined by the RPM and throttle position, derived from fuel injector pulse width numbers stored in the fuel maps, and is trimmed for environmental conditions due to air temperature, air pressure and engine temperature.

                Closed Loop

Closed loop means there is feedback of the result to the ECU. In our case, it means there is sensing or measuring of the exhaust gas to see how the engine is running. This sensing is done by a probe (a galvanic cell) which generates a voltage based on the gas around it. These probes are referred to as Oxygen sensors, Lambda sensors, O2 sensors, Exhaust Gas sensors and probably a few other names as well.

It would make sense that a programming change would fix this, assuming the O2 sensor is good. They are probably making a change to the fuel mapping or the voltage the O2 sensor sends back to the ECM. A quick trip to the dealer should have it fixed. Just sucks it couldn't have been taken care of before you took delivery since this is evidently somewhat of a known problem.

Here's what I was told - PCM had a "recall" on some of the 409 and 450 engines. (I'm paraphrasing of course and possibly not right mechanical wording) - It can range from a new hose kit - to updating the ECM software to replacing manifold(s) -- I was getting the error code on our new 230 of:

                  DTC 1418: EMWT2 higher than expected stage 2 SPN 442 FMI 0

I got this error code twice this weekend even after the "supposed fix" -- I was told that the govt is regulating the exhaust O2 output levels so closely and the tolerances are very tight and anytime the sensors pick up a reading outside the tolerances a warning code can be thrown.

                    CCS-

So is it something that can be ignored... after the "fix"?

rpcs -- I wouldnt say that -- my dealers lead service tech thought the sensor may have just been tripped by one outlier reading from the oxygen sensor - told me to shut down, restart and if kept coming up to call him back - but if didnt come up again, all was fine - I shut down, restarted and ran rest of day with no warning codes ---- if it persists I will pursue as I just dont think it would be right if it continued. But the boat ran 100% fine, no issues.
