    Where does the water go?

Last weekend we were surfing and another boat was doing the same. I fell and the wife turned around the boat and we swamped the boat. it took in a good amount of water but i don't see much at all in the bottom. Does the boat have drains or something?

2 bilge pumps is it. It will go to the bottom of the hull and then pumps out. Thats just the water that doesnt get soaked up in the carpet.

Sometimes what looks like a lot of water, ends up not being as much as you think. There is a lot of surface area in the boat that water collects in, and eventually it should be expelled. That said, it is something to be avoided for sure. Take care!

With time and experience, she'll learn to throttle up to keep the bow above the rollers when turning around if the can't be avoided entirely.

When I have a rider fall, I pull back on the throttle and kill the wake (like in the "friends don't let friends power-turn video), or to just let the wake pass by and then turn around so I don't have to battle crossing over my own roller. I haven't taken a wave over the stern, so it works for me.

A lot for a new driver to keep in mind, let alone watching for the waves formed by other boats.

There is a floor drain in the bow that drains to the bilge, and the pumps take it from there.

I stop, tap it in reverse so I dont get carried with the wave and then turn around. Unless I have a crazy close tuber like I had Monday that rode right up on my downed wife then I powerturn right at him till he got the point I was out to make contact before he runs my wife over. He left the area!

Good point, to always "cover" the fallen rider. Does yor state require the use of "skier down" flags?

Thank you for the replies. My wife has also watched the video and has been great driving recently. We had six people in the boat and another surfer was in the cove so almost impossible not to power turn. It scared the pee out of us when a roller crossed the bow.

Thanks again. Now I'm off to the water

I'm gonna get up on the board with my 8 year old daughter and throw the rope in . I'll post pics Sunday when we're back

HS, great advice on boat handling and much safer for the fallen skier too..in case they are caught in the rope or even hangin' on in a panic. I have a 2011 SAN 210 and it seems to never drain well from water collected in the ski locker. I did discover the forward bilge pump detached from the deck mounting and it was ineffectively floating. Not sure how to reattach it. Got some access through deck hatch covering the fuel tank but not really enough to reattach the pump correctly. Also was wondering about installing a small drain hole at the bottom of the ski locker to get that last bit of water to drain out. Any thoughts or experience out there with this?
