22 off Wake Behind SN 200

I have had my 2012 SN 200 for the past six weeks. I have had a lot of sets behind the boat in the course. My previous boat was a 2008 196. Everything I have read about the 200 says that the 22 off bump is smaller than the SN 196. My experience is that the wake may not be as tall at 22 off but it is wider. What I am experiencing is that on my offiside pull through the wake my ski is getting bounced at the second wake. I feel that I am in a good pulling position and have the handle close to my hips when I am behind the boat. I was wondering if anyone else was having this experience. The only thing I can think of is that I am letting up slightly behind the boat before the second wake. I am a little disappointed in the wake at 22. Oh and 28 off is not a smooth as the 196. The wake for my son is who skis at 25 mph is awesome compared to my old 196.

I skied a number of 22 off passes behind a 200 yesterday after skiing many behind an '08 196 this season. Honestly, while I have not skied one right after the other, I feel like the 200 wake is equal to or slightly better than the 196. It could also be that I was skiing better yesterday and holding my pull better through the wake. I think you are right that the root cause is letting up slightly just a bit too early. I was bounced by both, but that was when I was off edge, not in great position, and consequently skiing towards the ball instead of being early. In sum, I love both boats and would glady ski behind either.

Never skied behind a 200, but I've skied behind 196s up through 08-09 in tournaments. I've never had a sn I've complained about the wake! Keep in mind I don't get shorter than 28 off, so I cannot comment on going shorter. Even my 95 sn is great at 22 & 28 off. The only time I've ever had a difficult time with skiing the course was a 86 2001, but it isn't terrible. If I can do 36 mph 22 off behind a 2001, it is possible!

It sounds like your timing is off. The 200 wake is wider then the 196 simply because the boat it self is bigger. Your edge change maybe a bit different. With the 200 you have to hold your edge a bit longer because of the width of the wake. If you are feeling the bump you are going flat. I had the same problem when I first started skiing behind the 200. It is easily correctable.
