lOVED MY 86. you might want to consider replacing the white rope in the rub rail with a black one. I replaced the rope in mine with a blue one. (my boat was blue) It really added a nice touch.

The 2001 was the boat that made me a Nautique fan. Thank you for the trip down memory lane. What a beautiful boat!

          Newguy,

Looks good. But I do have a question. Why the interior color choice. Red/maroon boat and blue/grey/black interior. Also watch the forearm on the rest, especially the black. We'll call that an eye popping experience.

The whole project is looking great. Also I noticed they didn't cut the ring off the pylon.

            crad,

Thanks for your comments. The reson for the color choice was the orignal Interior was maroon carpet and white maroon and purple seats... it looked horrible and would hurt my eyes when i looked at it. My plan is to put the same graphics (well the back and the 2001 graphics) in a black with the letter shading a gray. then add black and greay pin stripping to outline the maroon stripe. then I was going to use the 2004 or similar side graphics which have both black and gray as the main colors.

I know i could have tied the colors together with a different interior but i think my plan will work out ok. I would like to do a full wrap at some point so i picked the interior that i wanted and figured the out side could be changed.

why would i want the ring cut off the pylon? you can unscrew it if i wanted but thats what i ski off of now till i get a tower??

Amazing job so far! I miss my 86 dearly. RIP. Was my wife and I's first boat, I've had several in the past and we had many good times on it. I like your idea on the original 2001 decals in the black/grey coloring. Beautiful boat!

Don't mess with that ring and finger! They are hard to get off (I mean really hard) and extremely difficult to replace or find if you need an intact one ....That ring is what makes the boat old school.... If you want to add a FlightPipe (etc) ....there is an adapter made to use on retro pylons....Works great with no messin up of the original classic boat!
