Almost looks to me like they may have done one of their famous "detail" jobs already....I swear my boat looks and smells worse after they "clean it up"....I have just got to the point of telling them not to mess with it after services and I will clean it up myself....You have to make it CRYSTAL CLEAR to them how anal you are about your boat and have a few long conversations with the ownership before they will take care of your boat like you do....

I agree I would be MAD too. What is done is done. I'd good get a lot of Damp Rid and put it around your boat. I use it year round to keep this dry. Also I have a couple bags hanging by my AMPS>

Arc Audio - great stuff. I'm running wetsounds and I understand Arc is build their chassis. I've use Arc in the past and LOVE it.

I think the dealership should offer a professional detail from a reputable company. Demanding a new boat is absolutely unnecessary. The boat is not permanently damaged in anyway, the boat depreciated when it was signed for and driven off the lot, wet or dry. As a business owner looking at it from the dealers perspective, a customer demanding a new boat for this puts a knot in my stomach.

I hope the dealer can appease the situation and make you whole. Just remember that this was probably a mistake by a $10/hr teenager, not the business owner.

It should. That feeling is what's supposed to compel the business owner to take care of the customer's stuff. It should be ahead of lawsuit fear.

Like I said in the post earlier, if it were a suitcase full of case like on that TV commercial, the business owner would be a "little" more careful and spend more time directing that teenager.

The knot is more from a "losing faith in humanity" feeling. Requesting a new 120K boat because yours got a little wet and dirty....I would have to ask the guy how he sits down with balls that big.

I can see your point. But lets try this one: two weeks ago I took my family and brother's family out to dinner for my daughter's (Princess AirTool) birthday. My nephew is the manager of a 5 star steak house in a rich area of Houston. So we go there. I don't valet my wifes new 4x4 limited expedition because I have a stenotted anal sphincter.....so I'm waiting to drop them off at the front door (we drove through a monsoon on the way and it was drizzling) while the valet backs in a brand new red 2-door Maserati....brand new with paper plates. Of course I notice because who doesn't. And they always park the nice ones up front to show off.

So I park down the road and go in to eat. After about an hour my nephew goes AWOL. He finally returns to check on us and we learn he got distracted outside because the valet left the windows down on the Masserati and the monsoon caught up with us and drenched the inside of the Maserati. It was less than a week old.

Fortunately for my nephew, the valet company is forced on them by the landlord so the restaurant is not at fault but the Italian is still ticked at the restaurant because that's why he is there.

Now, let's say you just dropped 6 figures on a show car from the motherland and now the Italian cow skin interior is soaked. This should turn out just fine, because, heck, the cows have been rained on many times before.

What are you going to expect from them? some box fans and Armor All?

                Um, a new boat? No.

                Dinner comp'd?

                Dinner comp'd and car detailed?

                I give up.

For $50k I will fly to whereever you are and make that boat look better then the day you picked it up. You pay me first and then just bill the dealership, they should be happy to save the money, right?

That would REALLY tick me off, but that leather could be ruined, as it's not designed to get wet. There would you would have recourse, as actual damage occured. That Nautique could be cleaned up rather quickly and look brand new again - and even smell new. Anyone who hasn't seen a new boat have its shrink wrapped removed, would be surprised to see how dirty they can be. Of course, nor should a customer ever have to see how dirty a new boat is from the factory, which is another reason the dealer should've cleaned that boat up.

In both cases, Maserati and Nautique that's what insurance is for and both the dealership and the restaurant have it so if a detail on the Nautique doesn't get it right then you'll have to file a claim and the adjuster will tell you whether you've got any ground to stand on. Personally I would be pissed but would settle for a detail, if they pass up the opportunity to detail your boat and make you happy they are nuts. The Maserati's another story and that's going to cost someone some money.

I'm nervous as **** now, I have to drop my boat off at the dealer in the am.

When I posted "new boat," I had not seen the pictures (I was posting from my iphone). Assuming they can clean the boat up to the condition it was in before, assuming that everything still works when they are done, assuming they agree to warrant any after market equipment that was exposed to the elements for at least some reasonable period to determine that it was not negatively affected, and assuming this satisfies the boat owner, then that may also be acceptable. If it were me, it probably would be, but if they wanted to keep my business, they would be throwing in some free fluid changes and winterizations for a few years too.
