    got duped. need help

Hello all. Ive had a few Nautiques over the years, but for the last couple of years my driveways been empty. I need a summer toy and pulled the trigger and bought a 99 air nautique through a company in Texas online just to get on the water for a bit. When i received the sales contract it states *trailer not included* i am over 1000 miles away and you can see the predicament im in. I have to go pick up a boat with no trailer.
Now i know its not right and the sale should be voided but im caught in a contract and am out money. All i want is to go pick up my boat and get the family out on the water. Im prepared to suck it up and pay the extra 1000 or 2 for a trailer but ive been all over the internet from montana (im way north) to texas and cant find a trailer (other than new $4000) anywhere. Can anybody here help point me in a direction. if you know of any honest dealers or friends that sell used ski boat trailers i would be more than grateful. Thanks to all, hope your having a great summer!!!

How many days ago did you pull the trigger?

Once you read the language did you execute the agreement by signing it?

Not offering legal advice. . . Just asking questions to consider the situation.

Just out of curioustly. Does the company "just happen" to have a matching trailer now? Maybe one they pulled out of the deal to make the price lower.

      Where is the boat?

Bank repo auction. clicking the bid button is the legally binding signature. Not disputing the sale nor really looking for a way out ..... just sucks to get nailed with some fine print after the fact. A declaration like "tariler not included" should be as up front as "engine siezed" or "big *** hole in hull" imo. At this point just need to find a trailer somewhere between montana and texas (boats in texas) i would even go off the beaten path on my way down 500 miles east or west, just need a trailer.

I also bought my boat through a repo centre and the trailer was not included in the auction bid. I knew about this before I placed my bid, and I agree they should declare that clearly before. In my situation the bank only repoed the boat and not the trailer, so the po still hand title to the trailer but no need for it since he lost the boat and wanted to sell it. I bought the trailer off of him privately after my offer was accepted on the boat. It was a bit of an awkward transaction, but not to bad and I didn't have to buy a new trailer. I realize your situation might be different, but might be worth looking into... maybe the trailer it is on is for sale...

            I didn't suggest that.

One idea I had....I've seen some lakes in Texas where there was a nearby lot with several hundred empty trailers in it. You know, the trailers for all the boats docked in the marina.

Maybe you could check the lakes near you and maybe you could find an empty trailer to rent for the trip until you get yours.

Dont know if this helps any but I have used uShip.com to move my boat a few times. You can list it not on a trailer and you may get lucky that someone can still deliver it so you at least have it home. The prices are usually pretty good to.

thanks guys, the input is awesome. Sweber, i will look into shipping just to make things easier. I most likely will go down for it. im going to reply to the CL add first thing tomorrow, cheers txpilot, i have logged hours on online classified and havent found anything like this, cant go wrong with the price only concerned about a possible hull or lenght change that will complicate life. If anyones reading this can you think of a reason a '95 trailer would not work with a '99 pro air. Much thanks for all the input, the nautique families a tight group

Is it an air or pro air? If pro air then that's a different hull and it will not be a perfect fit. If air then it should be fine.

Pro air would still fit good enough to work. The strakes on back of hull can make it sit funny if not loaded right and the side strake/vents will also not be perfect but it will work. No way in **** will you find a used pro air trailer anyways.

Except the one that went with that boat if it is pro air.

Somewhat related to the other repo post above: Unrelated story but I own my trailer and the bank owns my boat. If they repo'd the boat from me, I guess they'd be stealing my trailer, of if a let them have the boat back, I'd tell them the trailer was mine. Come and get your boat with your own trailer. If I was going to get a hickey, I'd at least make it fun.

UPDATE. i have got ahold of the company to inquire about what the trailer story is. The reason they are not selling the trailer with the boat is that the trailer has no title. the vin plate on the trailer is unreadable making it non title able. I explained i just need it to transport it home and they are contacting the bank (who holds interest in the trailer to see if they will give/sell it to me). in the meantime I contacted border services and they said if the vin plate is unreadable there is zero chance they will allow it on canadian soil. so even if they release the trailer to me i can go as far as montana then have to abandon the trailer leaving the last 400 miles of my travels f%@&ed. SO, even if they give me the trailer its useless to me. So no questions about it i need to find a trailer. The ONLY exception i was told is if the trailer was manufactured in june 1997 or older, that gives me a 15 year trailer boarder crossing exception. WOW. any thoughts/anybody want a tandom trailer!!!! lol

I'm going to ask again. "Where exactly is this boat and trailer?"

If the vin is stamped in the zinc plated hitch portion, they just need to try harder to read it. Use a wire brush or something. Or shade it with a pencil.

i think it is common in texas to NOT title your trailer if the total weight is less than 4k pounds. I had to force Harris county to title mine. It is a longer story than that but it doesn't matter. The dealer couldn't get it done from Florida and gave up and stuck me with it. the good news is they gave me a dummy bill of sale for a low price so that is why I own the trailer free and clear. the rub was I had to pay double says tax on it plus a penalty because 30 days had passed.

Maybe I could buy the trailer from them for $1 and title it then sell it to you and you have paperwork for dem Canadians at the border.
