Is there a good reason ski & wakeboard boats couldn't have pod drive? Windy and wavy days can make for a lot of fun trying to maneuver at low speed, particularly in to tight marina slips, a pod drive would make this effortless and I'd think you could get the same wake since you could place the prop in the exact same position as a DD or VD.

If you mean pod drive like bigger ships use I don't think it would be practical for a small pleasure boat to have. They use internal combustion engines to power generators that produce power to charge a battey bank. The pod drive is an electric motor with a prop attached to it. The power stored in the battery bank is sent to the electric motor via power cables. Yes it would be great for manuverability, but I just don't see all that equipment packed into a small vessel and still have room for storage, passangers, etc. I would think the pod would play havoc with any kind of ski/wakeboard wake as well.Jason

What is a hugh pod hanging down from under the boat going to do to the water displacment that is so important to create a good wake?? You'll never see it happen, do like I do if its to windy. Bite your pride and put someone on the dock with a line if needed.2008 210 SAN TE (Moonraker Yellow over Midnight Blue)

They do make pod drives for consumer boats, but currently only used on boats in the 35' and up range and usually offshore cruisers.
I don't know all the details, but the early ones had some teething problems and they are expensive and bigger than a 23' boat could handle.
So, it's not feasible now or in the near future.
