we'll just have to put false floors at the tops of our lockers and hide all the ballast.

I agree DC. I kind of high jacked the power turn thread by discussing this. Such large wakes are causing damage to docks and shorelines on our smaller, inland lakes, and property owners are getting fed up. I realize it's public water, but the tax paying property owners have a knack for getting what they want. We're starting to see and hear about lakes enforcing people to drive at idle or on plane to avoid this. That's fine for us skiers, but it essentially bans boarding/surfing. I bite my tongue everytime my local Supra sends a tidal wave over my dock and shoreline, as I have no interest in causing a stir that bans us all. These are awesome boats, just not a good fit for small lakes.

"we'll just have to put false floors at the tops of our lockers and hide all the ballast. "

The false assumption about this idea is that some areas have banned ALL towed water sports. Home owners get fed up, and find allies in environmental groups that have the philosophy of banning all powered boating.

Wake surfing is particularly bad in this area, because the wakes travel many hundreds of feet, instead of dissipating in a short distance.

First the property owners may be be effecting their own property values by banning water sports? I would never buy on a idle only fish lake. Second when they ban the wakeboats do they also ban the 25' and larger boats ? There's nothing like a 26' Cobalt doing 12mph sending a roller across the lake. Here's a thought how about a boat drivers training course requirement before getting behind the wheel ? Good driving habits will do a lot to reduce wake damage.

Even the best driving habits would not prevent huge wakes from hitting the shoreline. Don't get me wrong, I don't want ANY boat banned - the fewer regs the better IMO. But as a home owner on a 100 acre lake, I do understand the frustration. I think we'll see some sort of regulation coming out in the near future, directly aimed at wakeboats (on my lake). My guess would be more weight, beam and/or draft than length. Length would start to rule out certain pontoon boats.

If it was the same boat as everyone is talking about (which I suspect it is), it sounds like the prop wasn't changed until afterwards.

I know that will help alot, however, I still don't think the 343 would be a wise choice. Maybe it will work with a long plane time and only the driver, but I can't imagine that it would be able to handle that and the people. I have a 230 with the 409 and I wouldn't want anything less. This boat is heavier, seems to displace more water (even empty) and has almost 3K stock ballast. I wouldn't put a 343 in that.

Agreed. Personally, I wouldn't get less than the 450 in this boat.

Very much so...my 09 210 with full ballast and tourney prop is fine with 343 but any larger boat needs more low end torque and power out of hole

I spoke with a regional rep this weekend and the G25 will be unveiled in Dallas on I think he said the 20th. Has anyone else heard anything like that. He stopped by our place this weekend in a G23 doing demos. I have to say that the pictures don't due the boat justice. It is so much bad to bone in person.....

1st I have heard of the G25 in Dallas, but the summer boat show is the 13-15th and 20-22nd of this month so it possibly fits...Last I heard from a dealer (not Buxton) was that this thing was not going t o be ready to unveil for some time....May do some digging this week, we were just getting ready to think about our 2013 boat order...

The biggest issue to me is that most boats at 25 or larger have twin engines, with steering in reverse. I don't want to maneuver a 25' boat that only goes to the right in reverse. IMO, you can't ban a wake boat unless there are length, beam, and weight restrictions, etc. as for banning watersports, great way to drop home values. Might as well say no swimming too. Like previously stated, a fishing boat plowing through the water is not only dumb driving, but creates huge rollers. That 12mph rule is so stupid i laughed. Anyways, looking forward to seeing this thing.
