    Cleaning boat after the lake

What do you use to keep your boat clean and shiny after pulling it out of the lake? Our lake has limestone deposits leaving hard water residue. I find 50/50 vinegar/water removes the spots and my shine. Any suggestions to keep boat looking newer longer?

    Happy 4th!!

To start, a good coat of wax before your boat even touches the water.

I live in Oregon, so my water chemistry is completely different than what you have. We have more of a problem of an organic scum that will form on boat just below the waterline. This is more pronounced if the boat is left parked with out moving, on the other hand, if the boat is launched, and kept moving pretty much all the time, not as bad of a problem with the scum on the boat.

The vinegar/eater solution sounds like a good one where you live.
I have also had good luck with this stuff to remove water spots on the windshield.

Add about a third Of Babe's Boat Brite to that mix and put it in a pump up sprayer and the shine will come back after a few trips. If you keep the gelcoat mirror polished the Babe's will look a little greasy, but it will dry clear.

Colonite Fleetwax is the best I've found, I did the whole process with cleaner Memorial Day. I put about 15 hrs on the boat over the next 2 weeks without any sort of cleaning and was able to wipe the dried spots off with a dry towel. It's a bit of a process to get the Colonite on, but worth it because I won't have to wax again until Labor Day.

Our boat is in a slip with a lift. Every Sunday when we're done boating I spray it down with fresh water and while wet I use miguars ( I probably misspelled that) quick wax to the wet boat and then wipe down. It always looks good and I think the fresh water cleanses the boat a bit. We always just use the towels that are left over after the weekend

I bought some stuff call bow to stern and it works great. Vinegar and water does good to. But the bow to stern really leaves a good shine

I use Ducky. We trailer the boat and I spray it on and wipe down the boat every time it comes out of the lake.

I too started using BTS (Bow To Stern) recently. It leaves a beautiful shine and makes the vinyl feel as soft and supple as new.

Have been using "Slimy Grimy" for years now --- and it now comes in a spray container...this stuff literally melts the lake scum ring off the gelcoat and brings it right back to new looking. I use a quick spraying of it every or every other weekend --after applying be sure to wash down or go back over with water to rinse the slimy grimy off..

I use all the Boat Bling Products. The hot sauce for gel coat cleaning after use, vinyl sauce for interior cleaning after every use, vinyl conditioner about once a month to keep it nice and soft and protect from UV and quick sauce for a real good wax twice a season. Not the cheapest product but very good. I may abandon the Hot sauce as it's expensive and I think the 50/50 vinegar/water mix with the quick sauce will work almost just as well and the mix is much cheaper.

2X boat bling. Makes it easy since it is based in AZ, I actually call patrick (the owner) and he comes to my work with whatever i need. Hot sauce while on the trailer after the day is over. Vinyl sauce to clean the interior, best I have found so far
