Spent some time inside the G23

I got the opportunity the other day to spend a little time inside a friend of mine's G23. WOW Thats really all you can say.

The boat ... I have been in quite a few new boat's lately (lucky enough to have some good friends that like MC and Nautique's) but there really is no other boat like the G23. That boat's interior seemed huge...extremely well laid out. I love that you don’t have to crawl over a ton of sacs in order to get a good wake. The boat with the right prop on it comes out of the hole and on plane in no time (450hp).

The Wake …GAME CHANGER I only had the opportunity to surf the actual wake but it was amazing; huge with a ton of curl. I am a 6’2 215 and when I can get into the barrel of the surf wake I know it’s just massive.

I did not get the chance to board the boat due to running out of time, but I got to watch a friend of mine take a few sets. It was like something I have never seen. He is what you would call a very good intermediate wake boarder (inverts, spins, raleys, toe side, heel side and blind) even though he will play the old and washed up card. His first trick was a massive raley followed by the toe side back roll. What was so cool about that boats wake is it looked to explode right off the lip of the wake effortlessly. It looks to me as the biggest challenge of the boat’s wake is actually waiting to ride all the way up the wake before you pop.

I would post pictures but I will leave that to the boat owner. Those are the guys you want to see pictures of… Rumor has it after only about a week he is already pulling toe side 5’s now. Congrats man and what an awesome machine.

By far the best boat I have ever been in
    Thank You

Nate, glad you enjoyed the boat! I was hoping to come out there with you guys but had other plans to attend to. Bummer that you guys didn't have time to get a wakeboard set in for you. We can try to get you out on it again, on a calm lake, if you want. As far as the TS 5's...been hitting those for a few years. Now, I'm getting close to TS 7's.

The right prop definitely makes a difference. The one that's on it now is just fine with with stock ballast and a couple extra hundred pounds. Acme is going to be sending me two other props to try out - one is a 15x12 with a little less cup than the current one (2313), the other will be a 5 blade.

It was factory only ballast, They have all the extra fat sac's in the boat to go above factory but we just didn't have time or the need for them. Stock that wake is large enough to go huge.

Surfing all we used was a 750 in the back port locker. Way bigger than any other surf wake I have been on. (I do think Centurion's have a bigger surf wake, have not personally rode one but from picture's, video's and talking with friends) The boat to me is a wake board boat first, Surfing is just a added bonus.

Here's our current setup for wakeboarding behind my boat.

          Me - 24.7 mph @ 77':
          Factory ballast +
          *450/450 - rear lockers
          *200/200 - under midship seats
(using the 650 pound Rear Seat from Fly High...just pull it forward a bit so that 450 is further back and 200 is under midship...see pics)
          *200/200 - under bow seat
          *350 - bow walkway
*120 - lead under port observer seat

          My Girlfriend - 22.2 mph @ 60':
          Factory ballast

            ironj32,

Did you find it necessary to change out the prop on your G23 right away? What was it shipped with? I have mine coming in a few weeks and want to know what I should tell the dealer / ask for? Is Nautique / your dealer covering the prop changes?

            Thanks

                The 409/450hp engines come with the Acme 2313 – 15 x 12VL4B 1.125 Cup .150
                I believe the 550hp comes with the Acme 2247 – 15 x 14.25VL4B 1.125 Cup .150

Mine came with the 2313 and it does pretty well. Acme is shipping me two others to test (2315 and a 5 blade) and see if like either of them. If I choose to keep one of them, the cost will be covered by me.

It actually totals up to 2170 lbs of extra ballast. It's a tad sluggish, compared to a 230, but absolutely nothing to complain about. As I've mentioned in other threads, the 230, to me, is like a Corvette on water. When taking tight turns with all of the ballast in the G23 it dips down to about 19 mph, and takes a few seconds to get back up to speed. The 230 pretty much stayed at 26.5 mph the entire time (sometimes it actually get's going faster than 26.5).

Nope, it was purchased outright by yours truly. I had planned on going out with them, but I had something come up. I can tell you that it was not easy for me to let them fly solo, but I'm confident that if anything happened, they would make right with me.

I bet they would make it right, but it would kill me to know someone else was riding my boat without me.

I'd let Buxton demo mine, but you can bet your @$$ that I would be in that sucka too....

I definitely wanted to be there. It was kinda gut wrenching to know others were out on it and I wasn't, and also not know what's going on. Probably similar to a father letting his 16 year old daughter go out on her first date, LOL.

There's a red one over on wake world with lots of pics of plumbed in extra ballast. It's pretty sick.
