    Tying a SV211 to a dock?

What is the best way to tie this boat to a dock? It has bow cleats but no stern ones. Can I use the stern grab handle or the lift ring? Any pictures anyone may have of how you tie yours up would be a big help. I just added a dock and am trying to figure how to do it. I always just moored it with buoys at chest deep.

    Thanks,

    John

I had the dealership add the optional stern cleats to my SE. grab handle should work for a quick tie up, and CC probably intends for you to use the rear lifting eye but it was well worth the cost to add the stern cleats. This is a sore subject with me because it is a minor cost on an expensive boat and feel they shouldn't be an option but instead should be standard.

Do not use grab handles as you will likely damage the handles or the gel coat!!! Install a pair and remember to consider your cover when deciding where to place them.

Ido, but I couldnt find them at time of post. I have a pic of beveling the gel coat and the finished product. I will have to find them. I would have liked them farther back but went with the stock Nautique location so a fender would not hang off over the vent.

I have a 2010 200 and the "aft" cleats are way too far forward. I installed some near the aft corners which have made a huge difference (and I don't doc often). You will not regret installing the cleats, just check the back side of the hull and measure twice before you drill!

Thanks for the reply's The docks should be here early next week. I will probably use the rear lift ring for the rest of this season and then have the dealer install aft cleats this winter. I ordered a factory Nautique mooring cover but have not gotten it yet. Does it provide holes for the lift rings and cleats? Looked online but could not find any pictures.

Most likely the cover will not have provisions for cleats or lift rings. If not it would be a relatively easy task for your local upholstery shop.

If you must tie to the dock you may want to consider mooring whips, about $200 and it will keep the boat off the dock, virtually eliminating any dock rash on the rub rail or worse yet on the Gel. We use these at our Lake House (from lift rings) where the docks float and the water level fluctuates. At home I use boat lifts, even better just more $$$.

Oops, $200 should have been $500 for mooring whips.
