    Guages versus Screen

I know its been discussed before but now that it has become the standard, and there a lot more users of the single display, what are your thoughts?

I have yet to run a boat with the single screen display and still have my doubts about its efficiency. I do not like the thought of scrolling for information.

The key switch, and the analogue gauges on my 1997 Ski Nautique still work. So do the Airguide speedos.

I have seen many, many threads about keypad failures. If you have been around for a while, you remember issues with the digital Teleflex gauges.

The more complicated anything is, the more difficult it is to fix. Keep it simple.

I'm assuming you're referring to the Linc. It's flat out awesome! The only kink with the original Linc is that it was a little hard to see in bright sunlight, but that seems to have been corrected with the II. "Glass" cockpits are nothing new, so I wouldn't be afraid of failure - heck it's a simple flash drive. I personally like the idea of swaping out one display or one ram chip, versus messing around swaping out a dash full of gauges. Once you play around with everything the Linc offers, standard gauges seem extremely outdated.

FWIW, We have a 2012 200v with the LincII but I drove a 2012 200V with an analogue dash last weekend and it was a night and day different boat. I hated it, too much information spread out all over the dash, ancient toggle switches for the ballast were a joke. , if you didn't know better one could think the analogue boat was 10 years older than a Linc equipped boat. With the Linc everything is right there in one spot, no separate speed control or ballast controls, user ballast and speed settings right there, Navigation, instrument readings convenient and easy to read, music center right there in front of you, and all simple to use. Scrolling through screens is minimal unlike the First gen Linc system, the Linc II has been very thoughtfully configured. I can't speak for durability of the system yet but I wouldn't own a new boat without the Linc. We almost ordered an analogue boat but we're so glad didn't.

I love the Linc system on my 2010 210 SANTE. The only gripe I have is that when I start the boat, while Linc is loading, music starts playing immediately. It takes a good 20-30 seconds before I can access the volume controls or pause the music.
It's definitely jarring, especially if you finished the previous session with music pumping while cruising!

I wonder if that's unique to the Linc I, as we haven't experienced that issue?

Your first post says you haven't even used a boat with a single screen display but yet you've already made up your mind about it. I would go for a test drive if you're actually looking to buy a new boat and see what it's all about before making such a big decision.

                      Personally,
I don't care for the screen. I have owned two other nautiques with gauges and feel they are much easier to navigate.
The Linc may grow on me but so far I'm not satisfied

Try setting the speed control volume adjust to help with the blarring music after slowing or stopping.
