    Road Trip with Nautique 210

We are going on vacation middle of August and taking the 210 with us to Knoxville area. We are going to take some time to stop at some new places. Any suggestions on lakes to stop at between Florida, Georgia and North or South Carolina to enjoy Gods beauty.

Definitely recommend stopping at Lake Gaston, between North Carolina and Virginia, if you make it up here. It's 35 miles across and just beautiful. Enjoy your trip!

Check out Lake Jocassee in SC. It's north of Clemson, beautiful, clear water, waterfalls, and DEEP! Only one boat ramp, so not that busy. It's about 20 miles north of Clemson, so not exactly on your way.

I'd check out Fontana Lake, just over the TN/NC line, or Santeelah, or Chilhowee lake. Plenty of lake activities to do and see in Knoxville area. Including Tellico, Norris and Douglas lakes. A few links for you. BTW Tellico is where we hang out.

We are staying at Sequoyah Landing on 411 in Vonore. I think that is on Tellico Lake.

          Thanks for the links.

Lake Jocassee looks like it would be a great stop. Its only about 3.5 hours from where we are staying which isn't too bad, except the best route looks to be 129. That would not be a great drive with a boat through the Gap.

First: don't stop at any other lakes but get to TN as fast as possible...positively beautiful. And if you're staying in Vonore, the Mastercraft factory is right there. Might take a tour to appreciate your Nautique more.

And if you're out riding in Sevierville, I HIGHLY recommend the Apple Barn for any of the three meals.

I second this choice. We were on Lake Keowee for 7 years, which is the next lake down stream. Jocassee would be a great stop!

Jocassee looks like a great spot. It is now on our list of places to stop.

You can camp in the Devil's Fork State Park, either "drive in" camp sites, or boat in. We camped last year by boat and had a blast. We're headed back this year to camp again. Ask in the office and you can buy a map, or they will show you how to find the waterfalls...

We were just at Jocassee last week its a beautiful deep clear lake . Its down about 20 feet so getting to the falls is a little difficult.
Its still 300 feet deep so there is plenty of water . The devils fork park is very nice but there is not much to do there other than boating . The Georgia boys are having an informal get togather on Lanier this Fry and Sat stop by if you are in the Atlanta area.

Sure. One of the beauties of this lake is that it's pretty under-developed. You have a couple of options: either find smaller places for overnight stays (see link below, if it allows me to post a link) or week-end rental properties (which you can have access to from the same page). The owner of the site, Christine Thompson, is a realtor we used in the past and we can't say enough good things about her - very reliable.
                          http://www.lake-gaston-properties.com/hotels.htm

Lastly, in terms of food, there are 2 restaurants that have unique views of the lake: both are on highway 903 (which intersects the lake, more or less at the middle). One is called Watersview and the other is called The Pointe. I wouldn't call the food fabulous, but they offer great views of the lake and a laid-back experience.

Yep, That's on Tellico, and we had dinner there last night. Let me know what you think of the cabins. There is plenty of stuff to do there, including the MC tour (come by water their dock is just a couple miles down river from there.) If you want a change of pace, pull the boat and head up to the next lake up river- chilhowee, no houses and only 1 real boat ramp. Go up river towards the power house and you will usually find crystal clear 60 degree water, its very refreshing on a hot summer day. The rest of the lake will be in the mid 80s or warmer.

Calhouns at the Dam in Lenior city has some great food, and decent music at the tiki hut if you head downstream till you get to the dam at Fort Loudon.

Hit me up when your up here if you have any free time, hope the ankle is well enough to enjoy some time behind the boat.
