Greetings all. I recently purchased a 'new-to-me' 2004 Air Nautique 211 with the PCM Excalibur 330 and port/starboard ballasts. Having a ball wakeboarding, skiing, tubing, kneeboarding with the kids (young teenagers). This past weekend, a buddy of mine brought over his wake surfer and we all got up and enjoyed the new toy. However, we couldn't quite seem to dial in a wake that was ideal for wake surfing. We tried speeds ranging from 7 mph, up to 20 mph. We tried it with both ballasts full and the gate in the wakeboard position. We tried it with one ballast full, and one half full. One ballast full and the other empty. We event tried it with 4 people sitting on the gunwhale of one side with the full ballast, and couldn't really get a nice wake that curled and allowed the surfer to actually let go of the rope.
Being that this is my first 'fit for purpose' watersport boat (I've had several performance boats and cruisers prior), I was hoping to tap the experience of y'all to see how you might have optimized your wake for surfing in a boat similar to mine.
I look forward to your responses.
