I too shopped a few dealers before I bought. The dealer I bought from did the following to get my business.
    1. I called and wanted a 210. He described it and asked about my trade. He threw out a very high trade and lowest price I had seen on the new boat. I couldn't turn it down. Then he told me that he is in the business to sell boats not store them. To my surprise he sold my trade in two days and of course made money.

But I will say that another dealer was 18k off from buxton. And they were rude as h$((.

I hear ya, 99.9% of the time yes. However, I've become friends with the salesman/owner of the dealership, and in my case there really was another buyer ready to pull the trigger. He actually contacted me, bummed that I got the boat. Turned out to be a cool guy as well.

I can relate to the OP. Something like this would be enough to make me shop other brands as well. I mean, there can not be so many people buying $75-$100k+ boats every day that the dealer does not have time to make a phone call...especially when they promise they will. Even if there somehow are that many people, the good dealers would call after hours. Does the dealer think he was just a tire kicker? Maybe, but it seems they would want to follow every lead that comes in, especially for someone that has verbally indicated that he wants to buy it. I would be calling for that deposit every day.

Maybe boats are just flying off lots and I am in the wrong business.

Also, just my two cents here, but this territory thing seems like complete BS. What happened to the free market? Dealers should succeed because they are good, not because customers have no other choice in that brand.

Exactly. Seems just short of communism. At least the dealer can own his own land....unless our government has a better use for it - in their eyes.

You never heard this from me, but get a P.O. Box in East Texas (as humiliating as that sounds in itself) and order from Buxtons. (Or similar with White lake)
Late to this party, but if you get a PO in east Texas, at least consider stopping by the local dealer for this area. Buxtons is great and all, but I prefer Ski N Sports (formerly SWCC). Smaller dealer with fantastic service.

            YMMV

I'm looking forward to my "1000" post, so I'm warming up...

Can't we all just get a long and buy a boat somewhere.
