Should I add bow speakers?

I recently purchased a new to me 2006 sv211. It did not come with factory bow speakers. I have aftermarket tower speakers and like the sound. Is it worth the effort to add the bow speakers? I always drive so not an issue for me. But does it make a difference ?

I sure think it does. Also allows the people in the bow can hear the music.

I added them in mine.

Judging by your screen name-no. :-) Unless you keep the volume low, you can hear the stereo just fine in the bow unless you're going 20mph+. Sometimes people want to go to the bow just to not have their ears blasted on my boat. Just my 2 cents.

i actually disconected the bow speakers in my 210TE for the same reason markj stated. some where to get away from the music is nice, and yes you can still hear it, but you dont have to feel it.

I would say no also. They don't add anything to the experience behind the windshield and again its sometimes nice for the 2 people in the bow to be able to get away from the noise.

I also would vote no...I had a boat full a couple days ago and 2 people wanted to actually have a conversation. They were in the bow. But I had no way to crank it up without bugging them.

They sell controllers that allow you to turn certian speakers up and down. I plan on installing one for the bow and one for my tower speakers. That way the tower can be jamming at higher (or lower) levels than the cabin with the turn of a knob.

it absolutely makes the stereo sound better having sound upfront. i currently only have mids working in the bow and it sucks not having that in front of me when driving.

I don't have bow speakers either and I agree with what everyone said, not necessary. Plus I have the ocasionnal few gallons of water coming in over the bow since I'm loaded for surfing. People like to go relax in the bow and lean back on the fat sac

I was actually going to add some but then figured I didn't need them and it was too much of a hassle anyways.

What controller do you use to adjust volume on the speakers? I like my tower speakers but I want to be able to lower the volume on them when not needed. Is that a difficult addition? I figured I could just disconnect them from the amp but an adjuster seems to be a much better way to go.

I can adjust the volume of inboat speakers and the tower speakers seperately with my Wetsounds WS420

back to the original question...somewhat. Most of the boats come factory with the bow speakers powered off the head unit. The balance or fader (i can't remember) can be used to control the bow relative to those on the amps. I have the bows set down real low which tells me I don't really "need" them. The other reason I have them set low is you can't hear them distort if they are up too loud and your getting blasted by the other speakers driven by the amp. The quality of the head unit amp is not so good. So I have them down to protect them. I think that might be why so many people blow their bow speakers first. IMO.

I'll say they are nice to have if you have them, but I wouldn't spend the time or money to put them in if I didn't have them.
