    Indmar Wins J.D. Award

Anybody hear about this? I think I saw an ad for it in Waterski Mag or some other one. I have to admit I was a little surprised to find this out. I thought PCM was #1 up there with CC...

I saw it in Waterski mag and was surprised too. I wonder what all the MC and BU owners are going to complain about related to the survey now? Maybe just the Indmar portion of JD Power's survey was accurate? It would be funny to hear someone argue that after they tried to minimze CC's accomplishment of three straight.

Yeah, think of it, between the owners of the Top-3, no one can complain now...

Everyone has to admit that they may have the "better" engine, but we have the "better" boat. But, when people evaluate their boats, they probably have the engine in the back of their minds. When people evaluate their engines, they probably don't consider the boat at all...

I read the JD powers report. PCM came in second by one lousy point.

Incorrect. We all love our Nautiques, but that doesn't make them "better" then the rest. JD Powers tests don't really mean anything, all top 3 boats are just that top. CC could score dead last for all I care. I mean who really cares about these things? I know I don't.
          How about \"Chales\"?

Thats why I put "best" in "quotes." Within the Top-3, the real BEST is only determined by oppinion.

I wouldn't say Indmar is the "better" engine- PCM has far more innovations- FCC, PP trans, better mounts, etc. Indmar engines seem to be really fast though! Not fun when your malibu quits because of vapor lock though...

                Hey all,

Keep in mind what JD Powers measures:

                1) A subjective survey of consumer satisfaction. How much
does the customer like the product, and how likely ar they
to complain. I suspect the Correct Owners are as loyal as
anyone, and not likely to complain even if they do have a few problems.

                2) Statistical values of failures and quality issues. No emotion
or statement of what's better, just facts.

JDPA is nothing more than a guideline. If the owers of a product think
its great, and rate it highly for quality, that's one factor to think
about. If they consistently rate it poorly, that's also something to
                think about.

If the statistics say it had fewer failures, that's a data
                point as well. Etc.

Apparently, we Correct Craft owners like our boats best. That's great
but it is not proof in and of itself that CCs are the best. Perhaps
owners of other boats are tougher critics (or as some have
                suggested whiners  ).

Apparently, this year, owners of Indmar liked their product the best.
Not really surprising given that PCM has recently switched to Chevy
after over 25 years of Ford (probably are a couple of bugs to work out).

                Anyway, with all that said . . . .
I still wouldn't buy any boat but CC.

I still like this one better.

                    Correct Craft Recognized Three Times
ORLANDO, FL (February 17, 2005) — Orlando-based Correct Craft, Inc. is the recipient of its third consecutive J.D. Power and Associates® award for highest customer satisfaction in the Ski/Wakeboard segment of its 2005 Boat Competitive Information StudySM.

In addition to providing an analysis of product satisfaction and quality problems, the study ranks boat manufacturers on an index of product factors, including the boat’s exterior, features and controls, ride and handling, comfort and convenience, engine and propulsion and maintenance.

The J.D. Power and Associates 2005 Boat Competitive Information StudySM is based on responses from a total of 12,530 owners of 2003 and 2004 model-year boats registered between March 1, 2003 and May 31, 2004. www.jdpower.com

The study also finds that those who test drive their boat prior to purchase are significantly more satisfied than those who do not. Correct Craft vice-president Gary Meloon says, “This factor has been the key point in Correct Craft’s marketing strategy for a number of years, stressing its claim that…the only real test that matters is yours.”

Correct Craft will take the opportunity to personally thank its employees, suppliers and most of all its dealers. “Correct Craft dealers go above-and-beyond to take care of our customers, giving us the most satisfied customers in our industry, as our own satisfaction surveys have indicated,” Meloon stated.
CEO/President Terry McNew stated, “We feel this confirms our belief that customer satisfaction isn’t about the lowest purchase price. Discriminating buyers understand our products are built with superior components and craftsmanship that outperform our competition. Superior service provided by our dealers and service centers is also a prime reason we rank number one year after year.”

Celebrating 80 years of excellence in the marine industry, Correct Craft is a family-owned manufacturer of world-famous wakeboard, waterski, and recreational boats. Correct Craft, Inc., a Florida-based company, is known for leading the industry in technology and innovative hull designs.

Anyway you cut it, it's just bragging rights, nothing more.

I challange MasterCraft, Correct Craft, PCM and Indmar to convince me that their product is better than the competition's. There certainly are differences that may be more or less appealing, but in the end, I think all these guys make a fine product.
