question about 2 things hanging from the back of my 2009 206 LTD

there are 2 wires with small semicircle metal rings hanging from the platform mounts, one of them fell off, what are these for? Bill

Those rings keep the platform pins in place. The wires simply hold the rings when not connected. Might want to replace those!

I once recommended using steel Berkley fishing leader and crimps to make the tether. The op reported success. You'll still need to buy the special clip in the link above or marine supply.

Yes, they should be in place continuously. The only time I remove mine is when the swim platform is off (usually my winter teak oiling)

I have a 206 also and have noticed a time or two that the clip has released but didn't come out. I don't know what causes that....wake or seaweed or what.

If you don't ever take the platform off, you could use a more robust pin or bolt w/nylock nut or something. (this works even if you do take it off...just more time and you have to keep track of the hardware.)
