    Best way to compare Super Air Nautiques when buying "used"?

    Hi, I'm in the market for a late model 230 "Team Edition" (2008-2010) and I see many for sale that I'm interested in, but pricing varies. What is the best way to compare each of the models? Or better yet, maybe the real question is what 'options/packages' were available with the TE and how much value do they add?

    Correct Craft Fan has brochures under the reference section on the site. Pretty informative.

      Thanks TxHr, does provide some information. Unfortunately the scanned page for 'standard' and 'optional' equipment isn't legible; and doesn't provide pricing.

      Does anyone know what's 'standard' with the 'TEAM EDITION' of a 230?

      What options were most expensive and add more value to a used boat? It's safe to assume the ZR6 is one, but what others?

        Here's what I found when shopping for a 230/236.
        ZR6 engine option is worth ~$5k, and maybe more depending on the location of the boat. Buxton in TX sells a ton of 230's with the Excal, so the people in the area are used to seeing/using the 230's in this configuration. In other parts of the country, IMHO, an Excal 230 is a harder boat to sell.

        Team includes the following add-ons to the Limited;
        Zero Off
        Wake 2 pkg
        Board racks (spinner racks optional)
        tower
        bow speakers
        Level II stereo upgrade
        Dual batteries with switch

        That's what the brochure states, however in practice I don't recall ever seeing ANY 230 or 236 with out a tower, ballast, dual batteries and bow speakers. Board rack options are all over the place, as will the tower mirror mount, tower speakers, subs, etc...
        Full Throttle package is an appearance package that gives you a polished SS windshield header, black dash, and different steering wheel.
        After that, there's the removable seat backs on both sides (~$300 ea to purchase new), removable/reversible bench seat (about $1,100 to purchase), table, trash can, and foldable windblock.

        You'll just have to decide what's important to you in terms of your mission goals, for me, the seat backs and removable bench are great, trash can is ok, table is a nice to have but don't use it much.

        Towers;
        '08-Aluminum FCT (original tower), SS Titan tower (folds lower/easier to fold)
        '09-FCT, Titan, Roswell-2 point tower
        '10-Roswell 2 point, and 4 point tower

        '10 saw the LINK system/dash introduced, so you'll have to decide if you like the screen display for switches and other functions.

        Hope this helps, pricing will be ALL OVER the place based on hours, colors, engine options being the largest factors. If you are flexible on colors, and over 500 hours don't scare you, one can get a very solid deal on a 230...Good luck and have fun!

          Thanks Miljack, great information! I'm new to the 'Super Air' boats (been riding Ski Nautiques since '87) and I'll be selling my 196 once I get a SANTE.

          Do all the tower options fold down (including original FCT)?

          What's the purpose of 'removable seat backs'?

          I've been between a used 210 and 230 -- are you happy you went with a 230?

              Thanks wake_fun, what is the $78,000 number you listed -- the original cost of the base boat without TE and other upgrades?

              Also, I couldn't find in the 2008 manual the factory max ballast; is it the same as 2009 and 2010 models?

                I was all set on the 210, the wife LOVED the 230's walk through, so that's how "I" decided :-). Having said that, I LOVE the 230! Wake, surfing, room, handling, etc...I have a friend that I ride regularly with who has an '08 210 and I really thought his wake was the best I've ridden until I rode the 230. They are similar, but, the 230 w/stock ballast is awesome, about like a late 210 with the flyhi add-on ballast.
                If you're coming from a 196, you could still ski behind the 210, but, you will not be impressed. It's not like a 196, but it's ok for how big the boat is. I haven't tried to ski behind the 230, but looking at it, you won't be taking any strong cuts to the wake at 30+ mph!
                Ballast is about 800# on the '08-'10 models (although it's very hard to confirm this #), think in '11 CC used a different bow tank to get it close to 1000# stock. If you're interested in surfing, you'll need to get the Fly-Hi add-on system (2x 750 bags for rear lockers + Arrow sack for floor locker).

                  I'm in the same "boat" Miljack -- wife likes the space+walkthrough. Kids like wakeboarding/kneeboarding and even I'm doing more wakeboarding than skiing; and eventually want to try wakesurfing. Thanks for the feedback; it has really helped me get moving in the right direction.

                      Whole heartedly agree, the 230 is not a slalom lovers friend. Best wake was about 34mph and 15' off and I thought the ski was going to come out of the water crossing the wake. But for all else, it was was tops....until the G23.

                        I'll need to start saving now for a G23 (and a truck to tow that monstrosity) I'll be able to afford in 10 years
