    Ski Nautique 200cb 5.7 vs 6 Liter

My ski partner is looking to upgrade his 196 to a 2013 200cb and was asking if he should go with the 6 liter, I have the 5.7 in mine and no one in the area including the dealer as a 6 L to try.

This boat will be used only for slalom 34mph & 28-38 off in a man made ski lake. He is 185 lbs. We read that all the slalom boats at nationals were 6 liter, maybe that is the new way to go.

How is the pull on the 5.7 vs 6 ? He is not worried about fuel milage or high rpms. Just wants the best Pull for the best ski boat!!

We had a 200 open bow that we sponsored a ski team with and he loved the power of the 6.0L motor. It is a big addition to the boat performance wise...

I have seem some complaints about the performance of the Ski Nautique 200 VS the 196. So unless his Ski Nautique 195 has the 305 engine, I would suggest going to the 6 litre engine in the new 200.

Tough call. The 6L is still very expensive. It does get a little more gas mileage, but I could buy a lot of gas for the price difference. I've had 3 200s with 5.7 and they have plenty of power. They pull our largest skier (210lbs) out better than his own 196. Top speed is about 2-4mph better with the 6L. Non issue for most.

Nationals was pulled with 6L's. No clue about next year.

        Pros
        Better fuel economy
Could be the motor of the future, maybe.... So far, that has only been a rumor.
Lower RPMs, so a little quieter. My '12 with the cats is pretty quiet.
        Better in high altitude.

        Cons
        Very expensive
5.7 is more prevalent. Ask around to see what will be used at your local tournaments.

Won't make a difference on resale, that's for sure.
