Hello everyone,
Let me start off by saying I have been a loyal MasterCraft owner since 1998. A friend of mine at a local Nautique dealer asked me if I wanted to wakeboard behind the new G23. Always interested in seeing what other boats have to offer, I agreed to go. My first impression of the boat was, "Wow, this thing is HUGE". It makes my 2010 XStar look like my old ProStar 205 in size. After poking around the boat, I was super impressed with the engineering. I really think the guys at Nautique thought of everything with this boat. There is a ton of room onboard and the layout is very nice. The dash is super sexy, the computer functioned flawlessly and field of vision behind the wheel is awesome. I pulled my friend surfing and didn't have to stand up to see what was in front of me. The construction seemed SUPER solid, not one little rattle. As for the handling, I thought it drove great and handled the choppy water with ease. When another boat drove by, I intensionally drove through their wake at a 90 and laughed as we pushed through their wake like it wasn't even there. Now the wake!!! Factory ballast in the G23 is like my 2010 XStar with 2000LBS of ballast on top of its factory system. It is huge, solid and clean. The pop is more abrupt then my Xstar, which I liked. The transition is great as well. I rode at 23.6 at 75' effortlessly. If you where to add another 1000-1500LBS of weight to the G23, I think it might scare me. It would definitely scare my knees. I honestly feel that Nautique has stepped up their game. The G23 absolutely ROCKS!!!!! I think my Xstar is going bye-bye. MasterCraft, it as been a good run. It is now time to move on.
